Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7

Taylor Griffin has a brother?
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
In seriousness, I'd be happy to sign Blake Griffin to play here, assuming he came at a reasonable price. I'm not worried about chemistry issues. Do you think he'd insist on starting? I'd hope not. But even if he wanted to start, I bet Crowder would be a professional about it. He would understand that we'd be trying to make our team better to contend for a title.
I don't think there would be any issues between CP3 and Blake. They're both big boys. And winning cures so much; they'd enjoy being back on a contending team again.
I was just looking at Blake's stats. His FG% is pretty low, which is my main concern. I did a double-take when I first saw it; can these numbers be real? .365 FG%? after .352 last year? Oof. But his assist numbers are great, and I think he'd still give us a different look at the 4 and give Coach Monty more options, which I think is important for us.

I think if you don't have to commit to giving him a certain amount of minutes (or a starting spot), he is probably better than Frank. If it just costs you money, and not assets or team chemistry, go for it.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
Yeah, his shooting has been awful the last 2 years. The year before that he was an All-NBA player.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
At this stage I don't know how much better Blake is than Frank to warrant messing with chemistry. In Jones we trust.

I guess that was my point. Remember when Carmelo Anthony looked like he would never be a good basketball player again? Situations/teams can make a huge difference. If Jones thinks it would be good to try it out, he should know better than me.
The problem will be there isn't much room to move up (in the regular season), but we are only 6 games away from being out of the playoffs. So do we mess with what seems to be working?
Do you take the risk, or play it safe? And which one is taking the risk and which one is playing safe?

I see him going to Milwaukee. I’m really not all that interested, but if he’s just taking the Frank role, I’m fine with it.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
I would guess that Blake will end up on the Lakers (Blakers!) or Nets. If you're chasing a title, that's where you go.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
And you likely already had your agent figure out which team wanted you and for how much and what kind of role you would get, before working on a buy-out with your current team. Wherever he is going, it is already done.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
Crazy that if we were to bring in Blake, he would possibly be the least athletic member of our frontcourt.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
Limited interest in Griffin.
Intriguing upside, but the idea of bringing someone in that has been inefficient this season and has already had prior chemistry issues with Paul and has had a difficult time accepting a lesser role, in the hopes that he will then become more efficient while willingly accepting a lesser role seems foolish to me.
But I thought the Suns were being ridiculous to trade for Paul this summer, and thought Josh Jackson was a can't-miss prospect, so I have no idea.

Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
I think Indy is onto something here.
I think Blake MIGHT be a good fit, and you certainly have to think about it given his potential upside, and the fact that PF is our weakest starting position. That said, Javale McGee might make the most sense filling a role we don't have: back up C who can bang, rebound, etc... This used to be more important, but as the league has gone to stretch 4/5s, it hasn't been critical.
Weird thought: Saric and Kaminsky have been good this year. Saric has old man game, but he looks smooth. Kaminsky has old man game, but he looks uncoordinated. Still doesn't stop him from being very serviceable as a back up 4/5.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
I say don’t fix what’s not broken. I am not fan of Blake. The Shaq trade comes to mind...
In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
Well, if we were proposing to trade Mikal Bridges for Blake Griffin, then sure. But we are talking about getting Blake for nothing. If we'd acquired Shaq back in the aughts for $0 and no players, that might have been a great deal, too.
Re: Around the League: Week 11 3/1-3/7
Blake's not exactly my cup of tea at this point. Would rather keep things in tact and get better from within with Jae, Dario and Frank. Then again I was only lukewarm to CP so maybe we can add that kind of vet and get that much better.
