Would love to swing a deal for Lauri.

Problem is I’m not interested in giving up Cam.

Dario + Smith + picks??
besides nobody being interested in an injured Dario and Jalen, I am not sure giving up picks will help. Mikal needs to get paid. DA needs to get paid. After this season, Cam will be looking to get paid. And Lauri needs to get paid. The more we sell off our low-pay option to bring in guys like Mikal or Cam, the less likely we will be able to keep a team together.

I don't understand why the Suns have no interest in Aldridge (per Gambo). If you could get someone like him at the 4, you can play Johnson and Crowder more at the 3 and 2, with Nader/Shamet playing less. No need to play undersized.
I understand not wanting to be undersized, but Crowder is better than Aldridge…downgrading talent to be bigger isn’t the answer either.

Now I wouldn’t mind Aldridge on the team, but it would be in a limited role. A role I don’t get the feeling he would be interested in. I think that’s the biggest reason we don’t have many big names wanting to sign on.
I didn't mean giving Crowder any fewer minutes necessarily. You could even start him at the 4 and also play him at the 3 or even 2. Aldridge could be either the backup 4 or the starter. Crowder averaged 27.5 mpg this last season. Bridges averaged 32.6, Johnson 24.0, and Booker 33.9. Aldridge averaged 25.9.

Even without any Point Book, you could just play a bigger lineup without really reducing anyone's minutes. Something like:

PF: Crowder 22/Aldridge 26
SF: Bridges 32/Johnson 16
SG: Booker 34/Crowder 6/Johnson 8

Agree -- only thing I am uncomfortable with is the lack of a proven, big PF that could be a secondary shot blocking and rebounding threat. How many times have we seen Ayton contest or block a shot and the opposing big just waltzed in for a follow-up dunk?

Stix developing is great but we need insurance.

No way LA can play the 4 at this stage in his career. Way too slow

You could..it would take all of Shamet’s minutes…and probably some of Payne’s. It’s doable. I wouldn’t mind it…Aldridge just might see the opportunity he gets squeezed from the rotation.

If Chris Paul plays fewer minutes it wouldn't take away from Payne's, but Monty does like to play them together at times.

Some discussion over Nader vs Craig and what role Shamet will fill. I think we'll miss Craig's athleticism and "bull in a China shop" style that can disrupt the other team's flow but Nader is a more well rounded player. And while some have complained about McGee's cost, I think it's still better than giving Craig 5mil like the Pacers did. Also, do we think there's a chance DA and McGee see some time together? DA at the PF spot in very specific situations - if the Lakers throw AD and DHow out there or see the Bucks in the regular season and it's Giannis/Brook?

Please.

Nader is 15th man material.

Torrey Craig was a valuable member of the rotation through the playoffs. His defense rebounding and toughness will be missed.

Nader is awful on defense, low IQ, not .5 offense.

He’s our only wing that can attack the basket. He’s got his flaws, but he’s not a 15th man…

Def should have kept Craig. Too cheap to let all that go. How many games did we win because of him stepping up outta nowhere

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think we had bird rights on Craig. We would have had to use part of our MLE on him and he ended up taking more money than we could have offered. He got 5 million a year and we only had 4.5 million left after we signed McGee. I would have loved Craig back, but I don’t think it was a case of us letting him go..we just got outbid. Now that I think about it, I wouldn’t be surprised if our plan was to split the MLE between Craig and McGee and then Indy swooped in and offered more than we could.

I’m pretty blown away at how good those CP3/CP15 deals are. I almost feel bad for Payne..he deserved more…but then I remember he’s still making 6 million dollars a year, so I don’t feel that bad.

Don't worry about SS. He's a Nader hater. And when it comes to Saucy, I'm a Nader hater baiter. (But no master.)

Dude. Speaking for myself, in terms of salary, he'll make more in one year than I will in my lifetime.

Ok seeing that nothing much still to report especially for Bigs which I would have said in the other thread is kinda my expectation. Re: opportunity for Smith

Just to play off the running joke by 'Bone and some others here. I will give my thoughts but currently working on a couple articles :)

You know, I regularly think that I would love to hear a weekly-ish podcast from phx-suns.net. Most podcast formats work best with 2-3 people on the cast, with 2 being there all the time and another 4-5 people that rotate through depending on the issues. So I keep trying to figure out who would be best in those co-hosts spots and who would be great for rotating guests. I think you would be a great co-host.
Now catching up on all my Notifications
Man I appreciate this comment

I wanted to learn how to do clips and make YouTube vids just to share with you guys. Podcasts are trendy and I'm sure it would be fun if not crazy to go from msgs to virtually venting.
I could just imagine episodes when "Saucy" and "Djy2j" pass through as guests with their fireworks :)
