I don't think it's on Monty that we've lost two of our first three games. I just think it's hard to get amped back up to play at 100% after a deep playoff run and a crushing Finals loss, followed by the Olympics, followed by a very short offseason and training camp and preseason. There's a bit of a hangover feeling on the whole roster, most notably Booker and Crowder. I think it'll pass and it's best not to panic early. I didn't see anything in these first three games that made me really worried. I do think reducing Crowder's minutes might be wise, though, until he figures things out, especially since Cam Johnson looks great with his 3-point shooting.

In an exclusive interview with All-Star point guard Chris Paul, he explained the dynamic the team faces this season and why he’s confident they can overcome the hurdles on and off the court.
“Man, this is probably one of the best locker room that I’ve been in my whole career,” Paul told Yahoo Sports. “Because we have young guys that are leaders and everybody leads in their own different ways. We communicate, we talk. It’s a real family over here. You celebrate the guys that got paid this summer.”

Oh this is interesting
From what y'all would share last season I thought he actually was one that talked about/ complimented us. Then again he says "this year"
Oh well

I would love to know what Ayton has to do to get a max contract. Genuinely interested to hear what metrics they are basing their decision on, because its not team wins, and its not defensive metrics or efficiency (DWS: 13th, OWS: 17th, Rebounds: 11th, Blocks: 13th, FG%: 4th, maybe PER: 36th).“With D.A. and his situation, we talked about it,” Paul told Yahoo Sports. “He knows what he has to do. The goal for everybody is to see everyone getting paid. His situation is what it is, but it’s going to work out for him. We hope it works out for him."
It would be hard to judge Ayton critically if we comes into this season believing that what he has to do to get paid in Sarver's eyes is score more (PPG: 64th) and get more free throws (78th). If I was Ayton and I believed I won't get paid based on my defense, rebounding, or team success, I'd take plays off to complain to the referee too.

I noticed that too in Lowe's podcasts this past week or two. He goes through every "contender" in the West, spending plenty of time on the Lakers, Nuggets, Jazz, Mavs (!), Clippers (!), Jazz, and others, and literally didn't mention the Suns once. Bill Simmons is doing the same thing. It's like they completely forget we exist. Lowe even did a discussion about dark horse MVP candidates and didn't mention Booker or CP3 while he did mention guys like Donovan Mitchell. Oh well.

So-called experts will dismiss the Suns' playoff run as a "one-trick pony."
And the poncy fan-boys at ESPN will keep genuflecting at the shaky knees of the Lakers.

Re: Suns News: Week 2 10/25-10/31
Lowe and Simmons have both said very good things about the suns, they may not talk about them much, but I’d guess that’s because there isn’t a lot to talk about. We’re the same team, not many changes. I’ve seen both rank us in the top tier of western contenders.
Re: Suns News: Week 2 10/25-10/31
Stix's release looks really nice and compact. I'd love to see him get some opportunity out there.

Guys, we are a one-trick pony until we prove we are not. Let national media ignore us. What we've done in the first 3 games deserves some ignoring.

I am really rooting for Stix. I think he's going to be an NBA player if we give him time to figure things out. I don't see a lot of benefit to shipping him out unless it's for a really good return. And I would rather see him get minutes than, say, Kaminsky.
Re: Suns News: Week 2 10/25-10/31
The biggest difference between the Suns and our opponents in these early games has been the overall energy level, geriatric Lakers team notwithstanding. We're not the first team to experience a post-finals hangover. We'll need to learn how to win games when we're just not feeling it. Jae has spoken about playing through the doldrums last year after his finals run the year prior. We'll figure it out.

Ha! So it's not just me.
Asked Monty what’s stood out the most to him about Ish Wainwright so far.
His initial response: “His shoulders.”

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I don't know if I want to watch this Kings game later. What the hell happened... We are supposed to be good because of our continuity... what the fuck...
Re: Suns News: Week 2 10/25-10/31
I'm seeing a couple issues in these early games:
- Post-finals hangover. Last year we played with desperation. Relentless. Rack up as many wins as possible. How do you do hang on to that mindset when you just made the finals and you've started to believe your own hype? That's what Monty and the boys need to figure out.
- This current team doesn't have the top-end talent of the best Barkley or Nash-era teams that would swagger into your gym, put it on cruise control for quarters 1-3, then get serious in the 4th and win by 20. We got where we did last year by playing together and going hard for 48 minutes. And rarely did we win by blowout. Stay humble, stay hungry, out-work the opposition.
