I don't remember him to be this, uh, unremarkable his first time around with the Suns.
Of course, the team performance bar was set very low then ...
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

It’s shocking that the Knicks won as many games as they did last year with him starting.
I forget who posted it but someone mentioned how they went to a game and Payton was completely unengaged during huddles. Sure enough, during the Hawks game they did one of those “inside the huddle” things with Monty miked up. 14 Suns were gathered around Monty listening intently and Payton was a good 5 feet away joking with people 1 row back and not even remotely paying attention.

In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.

Yeah I think Elfrid just isn't in a good head space, he can play a lot better than he is,if he can't start at last being engaged he must goShabazz wrote:It’s shocking that the Knicks won as many games as they did last year with him starting.

Nice blowout. We did what we needed to against a bad team and coming off the L to Atlanta. A bit of a statement in that. Everyone was locked in again, DA was battling well inside and looked pretty close to his usual self. The starters and Cam did almost all the damage, Wiz were never a threat.
I wouldn't want us to overreact about guard depth. If Elfrid were our primary guard off the bench, we'd genuinely be in trouble and in need of a trade/upgrade. I'd love a super scorer/shooter to have with Payne and Shamet, but we shouldn't look at the rotation right now and panic because those two are out with injury. Elf was a "break in case of emergency" signing and that's where we are.

The Knicks would tread water until they could bring DRose in off the bench. I think they routinely lost the minutes he was on the floor, but they needed him filling in minutes because Thibs wanted/needed Rose with the 2nd unit and didn't have anyone else at PG. His role was to bring the ball up court and give it to Randle, then the Knicks would kind of hide him on offense. By the end of the season tho, he was completely done from a mental standpoint. Sometimes it looks like even he thinks he doesn't belong out there. It’s shocking that the Knicks won as many games as they did last year with him starting.

"Raises hand emphatically at the back of the class.... I know this answer !!' Lol

Yea that's an easy one, he was just A starter on the stat sheet but it was all about D. Rose resurgence. Elfrid hardly ever would sniff the court in the 4th quarter, even Quickley was more of a secondary contributor after Rose.
Plus Randle was the defacto PG for the starting lineup either way so he really didn't have an impact tbh

Nice to blow a team out after a loss. I thought Ayton was great, especially in the first half. JaVale also had multiple plays that made me smile; I really like that dude. Was disappointed with how poorly our end-of-the-bench guys closed out the game, but I guess that's a quibble at this point.

There's been many discussions on here about Ayton's quick starts and then what happens
Do we go away from him ?
Does he not maintain the same energy throughout ?
Interesting take from one of the respected minds
