Resetting the timeline, with a T-1000 in 1984 and Sarah already knowing what the deal is because of the old Arnie Terminator is a spot of genius, IMO.

I never saw the fourth Terminator movie. I liked the first two plenty, obviously; I like T1 more than T2, don't know if I'm the only one. T3 was all right though a bit cheesy. I decided the fourth one didn't look very good and skipped it. This new one in the trailer looks pretty fun. I'd see it.

I never saw three or 4. Honestly I forgot there were four. I'm with you on 1 being better. But two was more fun. This should be interesting.

Fourth one wasn't bad except for the ending. I'm kind glad they're wiping out the 3-4 continuity with this one. I guess Cameron read the script for it and loved it, so they've at least got his seal of approval.

T1 is a great movie, no doubt. T2, IMO, is a top 2 action movie of all time (depending on what you consider Dark Knight) and in my personal top-10. Just an amazing movie on so many levels.

3 and 4 were blah.

T2, Dark Knight, Aliens and Die Hard are probably the top 4

Then Jurrasic Park, The Fugitive, Children of Men (also in my top 10 overall), Raiders of the Lost Ark, District 9, The Matrix, The Raid 2, Kill Bill 1, Bourne Ultimatum, The Rock (loved it as a kid, doesn't hold up as well) are up there in some order. That's 14, but some may not be considered action.

I honestly didn't do any math from there. Just looking at the list it seemed pretty clear. My sister is about that age and I would guess many of those are very similar for her.

That's an interesting list for me. I especially find it hard to determine what an action movie is versus something else. Is Dark Knight an action movie any more so than, say Blade Runner? Maybe, but the line gets pretty blurred. I haven't seen every movie on your list, but if the ones I have, T2 was one of the more fun ones but wasn't a top 5 in my head. Again, interesting discussion.

So are these best or favorite? To me it is a different question. For example, the best movie of any genre I have ever seen is Godfather II. But it isn't my favorite.

T2 set a standard. Dark Knight is more crime drama IMO, like Heat, with some action mixed in.

I think Cliffhanger is a very underrated action flick. Cliffhanger, Die Hard, T2, Raiders are all tops.

I had read about what it was - basically "a 5 minute drum solo" - and thought, that sounds pretty cool but a little excessive and boring. Man, was I wrong. Great ending.
