I saw a trade suggestion on Reddit that we should trade Ayton to the Hawks for Collins and Capela. I want to keep Ayton, like I said, but that is an interesting proposal at least. I like Collins a lot. Another interesting one was to the Pacers for Turner plus either Hield or Brogdon.

I also saw suggestions about trading him to the Pistons for a Jerami Grant package (barf), or to the Rockets for Gordon and Wood (less barf, but still not interested).
Last one is a huge barf. Turner is also a barf because he doesn't rebound. I'm a Collins fan, and my Capela fandom was on full display when he was a FA and I wanted him and Luka instead of Sheandre. I think Atlanta matches up well, I want Hunter too lol.

I like Collins…not interested in Capela…if we could reroute him to say Charlotte for Rozier? Ya I’d do that.

Don’t like a Jerami Grant package…he showed in Detroit he can do more on ball than previously thought and he could potentially be a 3rd guy, but I’m not sure he sees himself taking that role. He wants to be featured as the 1 or 2.

Gordon and Wood is interesting…But Wood scares me a bit, not sure you can trust him.

Turner only works if you replace Crowder with a rebounding 4. I do like Turners defense and floor spacing though. He’d fit the offense well. We’d just be very susceptible to teams crushing us on the glass.

Also I don’t like Brogdon or Hield…Brogdon has regressed and he’s owed like 70 million over the next 3 years. Hield I like better, but he’s not a huge upgrade on Shamet. I’d need Haliburton from Indy and I know they wouldn’t do that.

Thanks Split for sharing. It’s not hard to believe flex here. I just hope we get a real shot maker and someone who gets to the line and demands calls. Not too much to ask for in a Max guy.

Everything Flex posted is what we've been talking about here since Ayton wasn't offered the 5-year max last summer.

It's up to Ayton's agent to find a team that will offer both the contract Ayton wants and is willing to deal with the Suns. Otherwise his client will presumably be making $30M+ in Phoenix but unable to pick the next team he plays for.

Like I've been saying since October, there's no way he stays on the roster if he wants out. Why would they keep him around until January, ruining team chemistry? Just tell him to stay home until they're allowed to trade him? None of that is realistic. If they can't get a star in a S&T, they'll settle for mediocre talent in return. Likely something less than a Boris Diaw.

Not sure but it seems like team chemistry disappeared games 6 and 7. Never seen the team so disconnected since pre-bubble Suns.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Obviously they would try to get him involved if they matched a contract to keep him if only to protect his value, but it'll really be up to Ayton at that point.

Will he be so far in his feelings about it that he goes the Ben Simmons route? If that's the case, it'll be an even bigger reason not to pay him 25-30% of the cap. For the record, I don't think Ayton would pull that card.

Agreed. So I don't see them keeping him for another half a season or another season.

If they had given him the max contract, maybe we could have retained our chemistry and mojo from last year.

You're probably right that he wouldn't pull a Ben Simmons. But then that means having the team chemistry we had in game 7. Or a situation like in New Orleans where Anthony Davis awkwardly played half a season where he only played reduced minutes.

FYI. This guy is untouchable in the off-season.

Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Totally different situation.

Simmons has a signed contract and chose to sit out.

Ayton doesn't have a signed contract. If he chose to sit out the Suns couldn't do anything about it.

If he signs and they match, then you would have to assume he would play. He'd be getting his max contract.

If Ayton has to go, at least his perceived value around the league is high, so we should be able to fetch a pretty good return for him.

The other supposed advantage is that the Suns have had proper notice and done initial talks and ground work for something.

At least, I hope they did their due diligence to make a great move for the Suns.

If we're going to move Ayton, I wonder if something that brings back Wendell Carter and Jonathan Isaac would be possible. The cap gymnastics would be tough.

That would be an interesting trade, tbh. Especially with Orlando winning the lottery and possibly taking Smith.

I like WCJ, he's a solid reliable big, but want no parts of Isaac.

If you take away the preacher/anti-Vax stuff, a healthy version of him is such a perfect player for this era at the 4/5.
