Seems like a pretty big ‘if’ with him at this point. I prefer the Suns only acquire guys who’s priority is being great at basketball.

Hasn't played in 2 full years and has a hefty contract. I'd rather keep Ayton.
Love, Hurts.

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
I’ve come to the conclusion that I’d rather have Ayton on his third contract than his second. He has a lot of growing pains to get through still and he should be much better with his current deficiencies in his late twenties which will better match his production and salary.
I’m not sure it’s good for the competitive balance of the sport, but the player loan system in soccer would be great for the Suns in this situation.

Ayton for Cole Anthony and WCJ? I’d do that I think…I love the idea of Isaac, but can’t trust his health.

Anthony and WCJ are a pretty good haul. Still doesn't solve the issue of needing a third scorer.

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
I mean 136 games played over 5 season is pretty awful. Like almost Zion level. I mean if Zion plays next year in 50 games, he will hit that number in 1 less season.

I'm totally out on Isaac, Simmons, Zion, etc. for this Suns team. They can't take that kind of risk if they're also committed to going for a ring with Chris Paul.

suggestion?
Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
Cole is a guy, he's probably best as Clarkson type, I wouldnt want him starting for me.Split T wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 6:44 pmYou gotta hope Cole is that guyFlagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 6:36 pmAnthony and WCJ are a pretty good haul. Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
Most of my trades depend on shipping out CP3.
For example, I’d go Paul Ayton and Cam J for Siakam and FVV.
Or Id work a 3 way where Portland gets a pick from LAL, cam J, Westbrook and Ayton while we get Dame Dolla and Little and LA gets CP3.
None of this will happen.
My dream without dealing CP3 is to get Embiid pretending he wants out
Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
Ya 3rd guard seems like his ideal role…doesn’t really get to the rim and is just a so-so shooter. Would need to improve at both of those to be a starter, but he can create shots and would’ve certainly helped as another shot creator against the Mavs. He’s better than Payne and Holiday for sure.TOO wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 8:22 pmCole is a guy, he's probably best as Clarkson type, I wouldnt want him starting for me.Split T wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 6:44 pmYou gotta hope Cole is that guyFlagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 6:36 pmAnthony and WCJ are a pretty good haul. Yeah none will happen because there is no way the other team would do it.specialsauce wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 8:25 pmMost of my trades depend on shipping out CP3.

I’m not trading Ayton for Cole Anthony. I’d rather max DA.TOO wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 8:22 pmCole is a guy, he's probably best as Clarkson type, I wouldnt want him starting for me.Split T wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 6:44 pmYou gotta hope Cole is that guyFlagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 6:36 pmAnthony and WCJ are a pretty good haul. I'm incredibly depressed. I don't think there's a deal for DA out there. If you look at the returns of S&Ts historically they are not great. We'll get short changed no matter what we do and we are already hemmed in by the salary cap. James Jones will have to pull some magic out of his hat to keep paying Paul his $30M and build a competitive roster that can win with him taking up that much cap space.
Go Suns!

Exactly. People expecting to get back anything close to DA’s value are not living in reality.carey wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 10:45 pmI'm incredibly depressed. Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
I can’t even come up with a similar situation in the past. I don’t think there’s precedent for what we can expect back from Ayton. The only restricted free agents I can think of that were signed and traded are Joe Johnson and Malcolm Brogdon.
JJ returned Diaw and 2 1sts…honestly a pretty good haul.
Brogdon returned a 1st and 2 2nds.
I think Ayton should be more in line with JJ in what he returns, but should return more.
Kristaps Porzingis was traded right before his restricted free agency and got Dennis Smith Jr(middle of year 2 after being a lotto pick) and 2 1sts. Pretty close to the suns return for JJ.
What examples am I forgetting? I know I must be.
I don’t think we have much use for 2 1sts and a young, so-so prospect, but that seems to be the going rate. OKC could definitely put together that offer and we could send those pieces to a 3rd team for a more win now player.
What about Darius Bazely and 3 1sts(since he’s better than JJ and OKC has tons of 1sts anyways) for Ayton?
What could we get with those 1sts?

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
Wendell Carter Jr is the player I’d be making the trade for. Anthony is the sweetener…though after thinking about it more, I don’t think I’d do it. Not really sure Anthony is any good. He can create shots, but not very good at making them. Now if it was Suggs and WCJ, I might do that.specialsauce wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 9:38 pmI’m not trading Ayton for Cole Anthony.
