I agree Indy. What gives me pause is that I don't like our chances with Durant+Booker and a broken down Chris Paul and filler for the rest of the roster. I think you're just left with a team that is going come up short again.
Perhaps. It is definitely the risk. But it does seem to be a better shot at a ring than improving on the margins or upgrading spots 5-8. And I would love to trade Chris Paul for a better player to be our #1 or #2, but I don't see that happening.
Paul won't be traded; Monty and Jones worship him, and that is part of the problem, at least when it comes to Monty.
I prefer to improve on the margins because at least that doesn't jeopardize the long-term outlook. Ideally I would sign and trade Ayton; move Shamet/Crowder/Saric for Kevin Love; sign Jalen Smith, Mo Bamba, or Isaiah Hartenstein to the MLE; sign Rubio to back up Paul. Extend CamJ for $15 mil a year. Call it a day.
Love all those complementary deals you mention.
But you kept the most important piece a mystery. What’s your DA sign and trade.

Once KD is in Phoenix, a swap of CP and Dame is inevitable.

So Ayton, Dario, Cam Payne, Craig and 3 1st round picks for
Lebron then
*pretty sure we’d have to include CamJ in any deal. But be cool if we could keep him.

What's to stop the Nets from trading Kyrie anyway?
It's pretty obvious they don't want to extend him at his salary request, so what if he pulls more bullshit and sits out games this season?
If I were Marks, I'd be trying to trade him for Westbrook. At least I know that guy will play hard every night.

We could trade him for Kyrie.

Nets probably talked him into opting in and to trade him to a desired location. Makes sense.

Or his agent talked him into it because the Nets agreed they'd try to trade him to one of his preferred teams.

Yeah none of this means Kyrie or KD are in Brooklyn during training camp.

If anything, it paves the way for the most logical path to trade Kyrie.
He was never going to opt-out and take the MLE or something ridiculous, and no team would be willing to S&T for him at his requested contract figures.

What if the Suns were to acquire the circus of Kyrie instead of KD? Wouldn't be as expensive to acquire.

The way the Shams tweet was worded, I’m not sure this is likely.
