And I won’t accept that excuse, because all we have to do is hold out for KD and we get him. We don’t need anything from Indiana.

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
That’s a misquote of Windhorst. He said “Pacers are very close to giving Deandre Ayton an offer sheet or executing a sign-and-trade.” He didn’t mention the Suns being “very close” on anything.

Well you might know more than me if you’re local…I just remember hearing he wanted to do more.djy2j wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:35 amI always heard from local reports and fans here that Turner wanted more 3's. Yes, I think Sabonis hindered his role on offense so it probably seems like he ONLY wanted to shoot threes. Regardless Turner isn't that great at them and his selection of them isn't great either. Something he can definitely improve on though. I do know he seems to be a pretty solid character dude and has done a ton of work for the homeless here in Indy.Split T wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:05 amTurner can shoot and I actually think he’s been frustrated in Indy because all they wanted him to do was shoot 3s. I think he’s wanted more opportunity but was blocked by Sabonis.djy2j wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 8:46 amI've been one of Ayton's biggest critics but I am also not for trading a dollar for 4 quarters. Turner is going to protect the rim better than Ayton but he doesn't have much of a shot and he tends to fall in love with 3's and disappears in games like DA did. I guess we'll see what happens.
Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
They will spin it as though it’s connected when it’s really just frugality as we’re trying to contend.
So frustrating that our ownership situation is still not resolved as we’re going through this. I feel like we’d be in a much better position to navigate this process with someone other than Sarver.

Listening to the whole clip, it sounds like it could still be an offer sheet:
Also, “of the teams outside of Phoenix,” sounds like Phoenix still has interest in keeping Ayton.

That's not what he said. It's right in your link. The headlines are misleading.Vladimir_Taltos wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 11:42 amActually...

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
Indiana isn't giving up Duarte. I think they plan on Haliburton-Duarte-Mathurin being their 1-2-3 and three best players. That is their core going forward. I think the Boston pick, Nesmith, second rounders, are all in play in a potential deal. Bitadze may even be off the table.
Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
I'm demanding Duarte with Turner, no exceptions. Goga and Nesmith are throw aways. First round pick(s) also. Need to actually acquite back some assets in any sign and trade. Turner's value is at an all time low.

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
We can demand it, but Indy is just gonna say no and make us match an offer sheet. Then, if we match, we can’t trade Ayton till mid season and only with his approval. We have a pretty big incentive to avoid an offer sheet as well.
Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
And I think people are not thinking the whole "match a max offer and trade him later" stance.
We've already seen that interest around the league is lukewarm at best for Ayton. And it is well known the Suns aren't high on Ayton.
So what do you honestly expect the market and offers to look like if the Suns try to move Ayton at the deadline on a max or near-max deal? You're looking at Davis Bertans, JaVale McGee, and a pick from Dallas. You're looking at ATL offering Capela and filler.
I think Chicago might offer Vucevic and White, but that's if they haven't moved White already and if they aren't at the top of the East and rolling.
I think it would be unwise to bank on a decent Ayton trade being out there next season.

It is the same kind of deals we are seeing with an Ayton S&T. Nobody seems interested in him, or at least very, very few teams.INFORMER wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 12:30 pmAnd I think people are not thinking the whole "match a max offer and trade him later" stance.

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
I’d take Turner over Vucevic…not sure about Capela. That one is close to me. I’d need to see what kind of contract Turner gets going forward. He’s younger than the other 2.
Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
If we are getting KD, we will have 3 starters that that prefer mid-range shots. If we assume we lose Mikal and Cam, we need to make sure the people replacing the other 2 starters are willing and able 3 point shooters.

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
Book is probably going to get a ton of 3s playing alongside KD or vice versa.
This is insane. It’s the weirdest cloud hanging over the franchise’s head right now. Are we losing Ayton? Getting KD? Who will we lose or keep, how will they fill out the roster?

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
I would really hope Book gets like 9-10 3PA a game if we have KD here.
Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
It seems like there are people sitting on their hands right now. I hope the Suns aren’t missing out on improving the roster because they’re waiting on an answer that may or may not be favorable. Kellan Olson and Dave Burns on the radio today counting how many times these sports columnists use “if” and “but” when talking about a trade for Durant or trading Ayton. It’s going to be slim pickings if those trades don’t work out.
