For it to be a max, the Pacers would have to clear 9M in cap space.
They had over $26M.
Are you sure? What source are you using? My default for cap is Spotrac and they have them at 21.4 with the ability to get to $30,065,593 as their max if they cut everyone they can (including recent draft picks). And that isn't enough for a max or 133M offer.

He hasn't signed it yet. Pacers don't have the cap yet. Buckle up.

Yeah I think Shel or Indy are right. Someone just trying to get shit done. I think Nets and the league are hoping to push Suns out of getting KD this summer. Sean Marks gotta be praying to clear the Suns hurdle.

Gambo already making the excuses for the Suns letting him walk for nothing:

The crazy part is the Nets could just keep Durant.

And then the Suns will look even more incompetent than they ever have before. And that's saying something.

That would be pretty bad!

How could he sign today if they don’t have the cap? They’d have to waive and let it all clear first.
What are they gonna sign him to a starting salary of $26 million? Cuz sign me up.

Pacers could've cleared capspace this entire time. They've been waiting on a larger Suns/KD deal, hasn't happened (and might be on hold indefinitely) so they're moving on with free agency. Now they'll clear enough space and force us to match or deal, even tho we supposedly have no interest in Turner.

Can't go into next season without DA/KD/Turner IMO. Turner kinda sucks, but you definitely can't lose DA and then see KD stay in BK. Even if KD gets traded to us later, a bird in the hand.

Trades or stretches have to be official before they can sign him to the offer sheet.

Indy clearly has trades lined up to clear the space and is trying to force our hand. They probably aren’t offering much of anything and we’ve been holding out. It’s probably a turner for Ayton straight up and we’ve wanted a pick.

Suns will look real bad if they don’t work out a deal. Just turner would be a loss, but it’s better than letting him walk. I wonder if we hold strong and say give us a pick or we just match. Gotta follow through and match at that point though. Absolutely can’t let him walk for nothing.

As I have said, if the Suns don't get a good S&T or match, I'm out -- unless the pull off some kind of miracle.

Feels like not matching is a legit possibility with ownership and the FO. It'd be such a bad look to just let him walk and have nothing else lined up.

Turner for Ayton, BTW, is NOT a good S&T

Yeah, look for a couple trades of players for 2nd round protected picks for them to dump salary. Once those become official, then he can sign. But even if they cut everyone they can, it doesn't free up enough on their own.

Letting DA walk is beyond a bad look for the FO. I think you maintain leverage by matching DA.
