But, if you’re ready for my next bad idea: What if Russell Westbrook gets moved and then bought out? I’m 95% sure I’m a no on this, but there’s a small chance it could be a good idea.
Here’s my thought, he doesn’t want to be seen as a vet min player. I’ve heard that once you accept a vet min deal, that’s all you’re getting. We can give him the TPMLE, we could even give him a bogus non-guaranteed 2nd year if it looks better for him. We tell him, hey come in and come off the bench and play 20 minutes. You’ll start when we rest CP3. He’s got to buy into the team concepts as well. Does he have a relationship with Monty? Did their time in OKC overlap?
I’d simply tell him, you have to cooperate or we’ll just sit you. Now do I think he’d cooperate? Probably not, but of all the people we’re talking about as a backup 1 available in FA, Westbrook is definitely the most talented. No one’s been able to rein him in, but I wouldn’t hate letting Monty try. As long as it doesn’t impact our future cap in anyway, I’d gladly add to Sarver’s tax bill to experiment with Russ.
Anyways, I’m assuming 99% of you will hate this idea, but maybe it’ll at least spark conversation haha
Man are you a closet Lakers fan? You’ve been proposing acquiring all of their old farts lol
Hey, you wanted someone with the potential to make a difference in a playoff game. It might be a negative difference but Westbrook will make a difference haha
Kyle Kuzma…I’d love to pull off a Crowder for Kuzma trade…what would that take?
I thought about him the other day when there was some chatter about trading Crowder. I thought he was dramatically overrated for most of his career in part due to the Lakers bump, but he showed me some things last year in Washington. He's still a goofball who I'd have a hard time trusting in a big spot in the playoffs.
He'd be a good fit with the Suns on paper, but I think the Wizards overvalue him a bit because their roster lacks athletic switchable guys like Kuzma. Seems like it would take at least a lightly protected future 1st to get him and I'd rather give Cam Johnson a proper run at the starting role before making that kind of deal for Kuzma.
Send me a PM if you're interested in joining the phx-suns.net fantasy basketball league.
Let's just hope Cam Johnson isn't another Zarko Cabarkaba. He has his best game ever against the Knicks where he got beat up and he hasn't been the same since.

I don't think it will be the case. He hit the game winner after he got roughed up. He looked like he was starting to try to find his bearings again into the playoffs though. I think he will bounce back this yr, and hopefully his confidence builds off of that game.
"There are 3 rules I live by: never get less than 12 hours sleep, never play cards with a guy with the same first name as a city & never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Everything else is cream cheese."
Cleveland signs and trades Sexton to us on a 3/40 deal with a player option on year 3. Starts just under 13 million.
We send Jae Crowder and Cam Payne to the Cavs with maybe a 2nd round pick?
Then send Landry Shamet to Indiana with a 2nd round pick as well.
We would be hard capped with a sign and trade so that’s why we’d have to shed salary to get under the hard cap. That probably makes it too difficult as I’m sure Indy would want more to play ball, but it would give us:
Paul/Booker/Bridges/Johnson/Ayton with
Sexton/Lee/Craig/Saric/Biyombo off the bench.
DWJ/Okogie/Wainright/Landale the deep bench and 3 open roster spots.
In2 gets it. My point was about Zarko never being the same after Danny Fortson upended him. So far, Cam hasn’t been the same since getting beat up by the Knicks.
