I’d love to see us go after a Isaac/Cole Anthony package from Orlando. Mix and match any combo of our mid-tier players and throw in a pick if necessary. I think those 2 (IF healthy) combine to solve most of our problems.

I'd worry about Anthony's personality/maturity. I think he thinks he's already a franchise/all-star player and may not fit in with a veteran team asking him to play a role. Isaac, on paper, is intriguing but also has major red flags with injuries. Plus, not sure we'd want young players with such little big game experience.

Regarding Saric, his play has definitely been encouraging to see. I'd still take some of these clips with a grain of salt because these aren't NBA athletes/defense he's going up against. But like Rubio and Baynes a few years ago when they came off the World Cup, he should come into camp in terrific shape which could help him get off to a fast start. I think off-season conditioning has been an issue with him in the past, but that shouldn't be a problem this year. Combine that with him being in a contract year and this could be a perfect storm for him. Just want to make sure we're not burning him early in the season because Rubio and Baynes hit the wall in November/December from playing so much in the summer. If Dario's in his normal role of 15-20 mpg, we can hopefully avoid that.

I also wonder how our defense would look with Dario and Bojan. Not sure if we'd see them play a ton of minutes together, might be similar to the defensive/rebounding issues we had with Dario and Frank when DA was suspended and Baynes got hurt. Would have to find the right combo between DA, Dario, CamJ, Bojan and Biz (and maybe Ish and Londale).

I wouldn't be worried about Melo. He might give us some much needed offensive punch off the bench. I'd take him if he would play for a reasonable (cheap) contract.

I agree 100% with what you said about Dario. These Euro guys seem to spend their whole summers smoking and eating unless you put them into some kind of summer competitive play. Given his limited minutes and year of rest I think he'll be okay.

I was responding to Shabazz's post about Cole Anthony.

I'd be OK with Carmelo Anthony at this point in his career, but only in a limited role off the bench.

It seems Isaac is a lot of Suns fans golden goose. Hasnt played in 2 years, no thanks.

I loved Isaac in the draft and do still think he is theoretically a great fit, but ya I’m not trading assets for him at this point. Way too injury prone.

His contract is really only guaranteed next season. He’s a rare player that can match up defensively against any star player: Giannis, Durant, Luka, etc. He’s a killer in transition, plays a .5 game and would be an amazing fit defensively next to Mikal and DA.

I agree, but that’s all theoretical…he can’t stay on the court. He’s played 3 total games in the 2020’s and 0 games in 2021 or 2022. Josh Jackson played more games for us in 2 years than Isaac has played in 5 years for Orlando. He’s almost played more games since leaving the suns than Isaac has played his whole career. 136 for Isaac to 135 for Jackson. 136 games over 5 years is 27 games per year average. That is not good. I question his desire to play basketball when you combine that fact with his other off the court interests.

Agree with all of that. That’s why he can be had at a discount and may even have negative trade equity.

Speaking of Orlando, they’ve got a pretty dynamite young core that no one talks about. Suggs-Cole-Franz-Banchero-WCJ with Hampton, Isaac, Bamba, Fultz off the bench is nice. Wagner has been killing it at Euros and looks like a future star. Love that guy.

Ya I like what Orlando has going. Also I would definitely take Isaac if all it took was salary matching, I just am not sure Orlando will have any incentive to move him unless some team offers up an asset.

That’s a lot of words about someone who has played like 10 games in his career.

I don’t know how you could make any of those claims in isolation, let alone all of them together. A KILLER!!!! Match up defensively against ANY PLAYER!!!!

Lol. Hi Jonathan, nice to see you browsing phxsuns
