Jae Crowder trade request
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
Jake Fischer doesn't seem to have any inside knowledge for the Suns, but probably has some connections around the league.
Most of that article is basically "the Suns are trying to trade Jae to everyone, and they are asking about nearly everyone that matches his contract and have also been rumored to be on the outs with their current team, but who knows so I will just throw shit against the wall and see what sticks."

Re: Jae Crowder trade request
I thought the mention of Crowder having a strained relationship with Williams was interesting.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I still think there's something potentially brewing with Brooklyn and Durant that has to wait until December/January, which is why we're just kind of going along with what we've got at the moment. I don't think we're trading him to a competitive WC team and I don't think the Rockets would trade a young guy for him. My other issue is that most of the names mentioned in a trade are guards or small forwards. We'd still need some athletic size to throw out there.
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
That's a bit surprising to read.Crowder’s personality has been said to particularly clash with that of Williams — in addition to questions about Crowder’s role and contract.
I've been wondering why we wouldn't have tried to bring Jae back on a 2 or 3 yr deal for 8-10mil a year. He's obviously worth it to us and would probably be OK coming off the bench with some financial security. Are the cap implications that bad? I mean, we're also paying Shamet 9mil this year and 10mil next...just a bad investment there unless he really breaks out this season. Also makes me wonder if the FO and coaching staff are too often going with "their guys" over others who might help us more. With Crowder’s three-year, $29.1 million deal expiring at the conclusion of this 2022-23 campaign, the Suns, sources said, are unwilling to offer an extension of similar value that Crowder is once again commanding. It’s akin to the deals of fellow mid-tier rotation players Maxi Kleber and Larry Nance, who — at 30 and 29, respectively — signed three-year, $33 million and two-year, $21.6 million extensions this offseason.

Yeah, I'm surprised too. I'm kinda hoping that maybe that the writing is on the wall that this might drag on a bit, and maybe Jae and the Front Office can come to some sort of agreement.ShelC wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 9:37 amThat's a bit surprising to read.Crowder’s personality has been said to particularly clash with that of Williams — in addition to questions about Crowder’s role and contract.

And I wonder if we put in any kind of offer for Larry Nance Jr. Nostalgia aside, I think he would have fit in really well here.

Pels aren't giving up Nance. And tbh, they're a team that really scares me with their size up in the frontcourt. There's no way we have the bigs to matchup w/combos of BI, Nance, Zion, Hayes and JV.

If the Suns refused to offer both Bridges and Johnson (along with picks) for Durant, that is very disappointing.During the team’s trade pursuit of Kevin Durant this summer, sources said, Suns officials remained steadfast that Johnson was off limits — although one source said Phoenix did ultimately include him in an offer.

This is why we need a new owner, who isn't afraid to spend money. Sarver must have said no, and there's been no change from that. Dave King had an article last week about how the Suns should just extend Crowder: https://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2022 ... -extension

Re: Jae Crowder trade request
Not surprising. Monty seems to have problems getting along with a lot of players. That's 3/5 of the Suns' starters that have been reported to have had problems with Monty.

Hmm, I didn’t get that at all. He actually had real information…you think he made it all up?Indy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 8:51 amJake Fischer doesn't seem to have any inside knowledge for the Suns, but probably has some connections around the league.

Re: Jae Crowder trade request
The only rumor that excites me right now is Grant Williams or Derrick White. But I’d be stoked for GW, he’d get a lot of minutes here.
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
The last thing I’m worried about is Montys relationship with players. If someone’s got a problem I’m gonna lean toward it being their problem.

I’d be pretty excited about anything in that Fischer article.Drewsprocket wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 11:15 amThe only rumor that excites me right now is Grant Williams or Derrick White. But I’d be stoked for GW, he’d get a lot of minutes here.
Bogdon, Williams, White, Clarkson, Martin…all those guys would help us.
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
If it was one player, sure. If it's 3/5 of the starting lineup, then it's most likely a Monty problem.Split T wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 11:37 amThe last thing I’m worried about is Montys relationship with players. If someone’s got a problem I’m gonna lean toward it being their problem.

DA seems fine now that the money's worked out and he's getting more touches. Who's the 3rd?
And given our record and rep since he's been here, it's tough to make the case he's a coach players don't want to play for.

And you think they're not getting along or talking right now in camp and preseason?

Re: Jae Crowder trade request
JeremyG wants Monty fired because the new coach will orient the offense around Ayton's dominant offensive playmaking ability.
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
Ya he’s gotta be anti-Monty to support Ayton. Gives Ayton every benefit of the doubt, but anyone else is immediately the problem.
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
That new coach would last maybe one season before he's fired.ShadowHawke wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 12:10 pmJeremyG wants Monty fired because the new coach will orient the offense around Ayton's dominant offensive playmaking ability.
