If it weren’t for those sleeved jerseys we’d have made the playoffs that year with Bledsoe and Dragic. We lost every damn game we played in those jerseys.

Our best jerseys have been:

1. The Barkley Era ones that they’re throwing back to now
2. The og ones
3. The Valley Jerseys

Everything else has been absolute trash, as I most of the stuff found in their merch store. Very inept design team the suns have.

They were the original uniforms that were rushed out. Nothing remarkable about them without the western font that came years later.

PHX SUX too. Both should never have been a thing. You wanna do a Latin theme at the arena? Fine. This “LOS” deal is dumb and those jerseys are ruined by one word, because that’s not a Phoenix Suns jersey. It’s a Los Angeles Suns jersey.

If it were Los Angeles as you say, the jersey would've read Los Phoenix. However, I do think Sols would've been better than Los Suns. Still not enough to trash a great design.

It used to be common abroad, to refer the USA teams by a translated name, even on TV: “Los Soles de Phoenix vs Las Espuelas de San San Antonio” with some exceptions among the best (Lakers) and the worst ( Nets), mostly because the translation wasn’t so neat to use, (Laguneros de Los Angeles, doesn’t ring the same, and Nets doesn’t have a good “sportish” translation at all)

But not so many years ago, the NBA started mandating the foreign broadcasters and digital and written media to keep the teams’ names on english, therefore we started to hear the transmissions going like:

“finales del tercer cuarto, ventaja para los Suns” translated over from “end of the third quarter, advantage for the Suns”, at first even the TV guys fumbled going from Soles to Suns on a single sequence, but now is common use, and people started to say “ le voy a los Suns” instead of “le voy a los Soles” (I root for the Suns). All of this because, well, money.

Bottom line, the league wanted to sell merchandise off the USA, and the best way to do it, was going on into butchering both of the English (on jerseys) and spanish (broadcasting) languages.
