I thought Payne lost his aggressiveness at the end. They can't let the other team focus on Book. The others need to be able to produce at the end of games.

That's his problem. He's got to learn to be a shooter where the next shot is going in. I saw him get close to the rim at the end of the game and pass it back out. He's got to shoot that whether he's 1-7 or 7-1.

Payne got that ball with 9 seconds in the shot clock. What happened the first 15? That’s what I’m saying. It’s booker just standing at the 3 point line dribbling with zero purpose then panicking and just lobbing the ball to someone with the clock
Winding down.

We should be running designed sets aggressive and early in the clock for DA and Bridges with Book coming off the ball when teams decide they are going to play the trap. If DA or bridges fuck up then so be it call it regular season grooming for postseason, but this method is going to fail yet again

On the last play the ball started with Payne, Booker came around a screen to get the ball and was trapped and fouled while passing back to Payne. They inbounded to Booker who made a quick move, the Heat showed help and that’s when Booker passed to Payne and the video above shows the rest. So no standing around on that play.

To your credit, with about 2:00 left, the suns held the ball and Booker was trapped, tried to pass to Mikal but it was deflected into the backcourt. Mikal retrieved it, but had to heave it to avoid a shot clock violation. That was an ugly play.

They did have a good set play on the next possession that resulted in a Booker 3.

I was still encouraged by how Booker played this game, especially against the trap. Gave me some hope and I’m intrigued by the Mikal developments. I get that they are baby steps and you’re wanting bigger developments, I do too. Let’s hope they get there.
