Game Day: Suns (20-16) @ Raptors (15-19), Fri 12/30/22

Post by Superbone »

Time: 5:30 pm AZ (4:30 pm PT/7:30 pm ET)
Place: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, ON
TV: BSAZ/NBALP

The Suns travel to snowy Toronto to take on the Raptors. Will the Suns get cold feet or will they melt their competitors hopes away with hot shooting. One thing is for sure, it won’t be easy with our injury depleted roster and it’s going to take maximum effort from start to finish.

Raps have been struggling, 2-8 in their last 10 but have some size and length up front that can give us problems and they're still a well coached team. Trent and FVV can get hot, Barnes is having a sophomore slump.

Gotta find ways to generate offense with what we got.

We've got a challenge getting a win against any team we play these days given our injury situation. It's not going to be easy and it's going to take an all-out effort.

Another frustrating game. In spite of all that, they still had a chance but turned it over yet again.

Also, shortest game day thread ever due to the site being down all day.

25 turnovers is just inexcusible. And Ayton managed to sleepwalk through this one, which they can;t afford with all the players they have out.

This team does not look particularly well-coached right now, even taking into account the manpower shortage.

Yikes
This an all time low post count for a Game Day thread

Hope everyone doing alright

Crazy game or well, head scratching game is more accurate
As Bobster said, Turnovers..... :?

We usually lose games in certain ways
Other team got crazy hot from 3 and we weren't
We got out rebound
Sleep walk/ out hustled

I've never seen us getting so many turnovers, not breaking news that it's a season high because it was so uncharacteristic. CP3 probably had like 6 himself
Everyone talks about Raptors length but our guys kept trying dribbling in traffic or tight passes.

Outside of the results, you do know the site was down with a 503 error from my side at least for most of the game...?

Despite our careless turnovers this call was puzzling to say the least smh
Had a few other ridiculous calls at critical points of the game too but hey we didn't do ourselves any favours

Not gonna lie
I take my time getting around to the box scores, just go on eye test even the audio is sometimes off

So while I was smh cause DA was missing and again struggling with defenders doubling him. I didn't realize this was his stat line....

A game that was literally thrown away.
Sloppiest passing and ball handling of the Williams teams.
Paul, Lee and Washington had at least 15 TOs.
Ayton was MIA.
Infuriating game to watch.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

Sorry that the site was down, folks. Bad timing. I was flying back home from Tucson and didn't see the outage. I notified the site's hosting provider and they eventually got it back up. I guess maybe the server gods didn't want us to have to talk about this stinker in real-time. I managed to catch the 4th quarter just in time to see us throw it all away, ugh. Super frustrating.

Another good battle, kept it close but the TOs killed us. Pretty uncharacteristic, might've been some mental fatigue and guys like DLee trying to do too much. Monty is right about some of the interior passes but DA was hitting TC on a few cuts that I hadn't seen before so that was encouraging.

CP looked a little vintage with good burst, good offense and his 3s were working. Mikal was solid, but still not doing enough to carry any offensive load. DA was off, definitely looks like he hit a wall.

DWJ was our only other offensive threat but played only 13 minutes. Monty might need to figure out a way to work him with Paul in the backcourt. Okogie was ineffective, he's best as an energy/defense guy off the bench. Our bigs played well enough as Monty went big (didn't have much choice). Jock stood out and Dario looked pretty good despite the athleticism. Ish gave us good minutes as well.

This is just the situation we're in. We're going to lose being this shorthanded. I don't think there's much else Monty or Jones can do. If we were healthy and losing these games, I'd be concerned.

How come it feels like we might be better off going on vacation for two months and pretending like the sesason starts say March 1?

I’m slightly secretly hoping we are awful over this next month or so and we just shut Booker down. We wouldn’t be bad enough to really be in the Wemby sweepstakes, but we could always hope for a miracle and adding even a late lotto pick to this team would be good for the future. It also gives us a better asset in the summer of Jones trys to make an all-in move. I just think the chances of us contending this year are pretty much zero and we need to focus on the future with any moves.

Most of the game? How about the whole day. It wasn't available again until early Saturday when I posted above.

I'm sorry but a max player has to step up when he's healthy and we're missing so many. It's inexcusable (sorry Jeremy, hope you're feeling better). He just doesn't think that way and it's quite unfortunate.
