Still blows my mind they extended him before he ever suited up. What did they see?

Penny Hardaway, James Edwards, Dragan Bender, Rick Robey, Marcus Morris, Marquese Chriss, Josh Jackson, Armen Gilliam, Corky Calhoun, David Thirdkill, William Bedford, Ed Pinckney, to name a few. Most named were first round draft choices, or significant trade targets.djy2j wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:10 pmYeah but take into account his contract and he's this bad. He's been disappointing, but I can probably name about 20 or so that were worse.

You would think this team would at least be competitive in some of these games.
Now 5-17 in their last 22.

I mean they were for the first half…what do you expect when you’re at such a huge talent disadvantage? The Bobster wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:26 pmYou would think this team would at least be competitive in some of these games.

I sort of expect them to look organized and able to execute some plays. I expect come effort on defense. I don't expect 20-point losses every other game.Split T wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:28 pmI mean they were for the first half…what do you expect when you’re at such a huge talent disadvantage? The Bobster wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:26 pmYou would think this team would at least be competitive in some of these games.

And that's just it. Guys aren't giving up or tuning out. It's just the talent gap that catches up at some point in the game.Split T wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:28 pmI mean they were for the first half…what do you expect when you’re at such a huge talent disadvantage? The Bobster wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:26 pmYou would think this team would at least be competitive in some of these games.

Alot of those names were before my time as a Suns fan, 93. But I put Landry ahead of guys like Bender and Jackson only because he had NBA experience prior to coming here. The Morris twins tenure was partially marred by off court BS but yeah.LazarusLong wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:22 pmPenny Hardaway, James Edwards, Dragan Bender, Rick Robey, Marcus Morris, Marquese Chriss, Josh Jackson, Armen Gilliam, Corky Calhoun, David Thirdkill, William Bedford, Ed Pinckney, to name a few. I said this the minute he was signed. TF were they thinking?
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

The thing is this - Shamet has been almost exctly the same player he was everywhere else that he has since coming here. He's no worse than he was in Philadelphia, Los Angeles or Brooklyn. The Suns just just saw the one thing he could do fairly well (shoot open jumpers) and they figured he's be better because they would get him more of those open looks here. Well, we all see how that woked out for them.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:41 pmI said this the minute he was signed. TF were they thinking?

Was always a red flag to me that good playoff teams - Sixers, Clippers, Nets - all had him, played him and then moved him after a season despite being a young player on a rookie deal. I still understand the Suns logic in trading for him but they missed and missed big time. The Bobster wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 6:47 pmThe thing is this - Shamet has been almost exctly the same player he was everywhere else that he has since coming here. He had a bulldog mentality that just isn't appreciated as much as it should be.
