Suns News: Week 17 (2/6 - 2/12)
Re: Suns News: Week 17 (2/6 - 2/12)
I'm just worried this is going to be another do-nothing trade deadline from James Jones.

Yeah, that was a joke of a deal for us, anyways. Obviously just wishful thinking on Dallas' part.

I would have been expecting it also, if there wasn't a new owner coming in. It's disappointing that he doesn't seem to want to push Jones to act right away.

At the minimum, Crowder will be sent packing.

Quick procedural reminder: If the Suns actually make a trade, large or small, please create a new thread for it. And if the Suns make 2 or more trades, let's make a thread for each one separately. thx

Sure I just don't expect it to be a needle mover given Jones history. Hope I'm wrong

In no way I'm thinking about replacing CP3 with Russell, but Payne. And if someone can convince D-Lo to come from the bench, is Booker. Rusell could thrive playing against second units, reduce the in-game-load for CP3 in minutes and usage, and also could be a starter at PG for injury or B2B games. Also, leaving Minnesota could help them to improve in a lot of ways, as usual with players leaving that mess of franchise.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:24 pmChris Paul could very well break down, but Russell will just flat out suck. Significantly lower ceiling and floor with Russell over Paul.JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:16 pmI like that deal but he’s expiring so Minnesota is not going to do it for just cap relief. I might even do CP3 for Russell straight up—definitely would if we could know for certain that CP3 will break down again in the playoffs. We might get away with no picks in that deal.Aztec Sunsfan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 12:56 pmYou would say No to Rusell, with no picks involved and just cap relief going to Minnesota?Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 12:51 pmWe’ve been over FVV and Rozier for the most part. Lowry is cooked, IMO - worse than Chris Paul. Russell? Please, just don’t.
Something like Crowder, Shamet and Payne works under the rules. We kick the tires and get first chance to keep him, obviously after months and months of Booker talking to his ear about how great would be to stay together, and all it takes is him going for a 35mill for two years contract, betting on himself to get another max on 2026
And I'm someone who also thinks Paul is the biggest hurdle for this team to overcome.

I'd be surprised if it is a needle mover.

I just don't see the Nets trading away Harden, Irving and Durant all within a calendar year.

The Suns turned it up against the Celtics the second time around. Hopefully we see the same effort against the Hawks this time.

I feel like the Jazz, Twolves, Raptors are alot of teams' Plan A. Once that Domino falls involving 1 or all of them you'll see alot of other moves follow with teams moving to all their other options quickly as possible.

I’m holding out hope guys like Vanderbilt or Clarkson go for a kings ransom as it seems like the Suns are waiting out the Nets.
It’ll be frustrating if one of those guys could’ve been had for Crowder and a low risk future pick.

Ishbia really seems to think this team is already very good so I'm not anticipating anything aside from Crowder going for peanuts. I think the big moves will be in the off-season.
