Is that a typo? 2 rebounds is excusable?

There is no excuse at that size. 5 rebounds should literally fall into his hands with his eyes closed. Pathetic. He did have a good box score otherwise. Unfortunately I missed the game.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Hump game where we couldn't get over that 10-12ish pt deficit, didn't have the juice to get even and take the lead. CP was off, DA was invisible on the boards, TC and Jock both were ineffective. Capela and Okongwu had 28 boards while our team had 35. Nice game from Okogie, who hasn't been playing lately but looked good on both ends tonight. They played hard for the most part but the trade was still hanging over everything.

Agreed that there is no excuse for the rebounding. But if you want to know how 2 rebounds in 30 minutes is even possible, here are the reasons for it that I observed watching the game:

1. He didn't give the needed effort on the boards on multiple occasions and was just a step slow a lot of the time.

2. He tipped several rebounds to teammates.

3. Several rebounds he was fighting for went off the Hawks out of bounds.

4. A few times teammates jumped in front of him and grabbed the board before he got to it. Like I said, he was a step slow.

The whole team was terrible on the defensive boards when he was both in and out of the lineup. Pretty embarrassing to give up 70 rebounds (including team rebounds). I'm sure DA will come out tomorrow night and make sure it does not happen again.

You got through that whole post without blaming Monty once. I'm impressed. 8-)

Getting a body on Capela even once would have been nice.

Tonight is why the Nets insisted on Mikal and not Ayton. They already had one soft, weak minded player on the team. They didn't need another.

Not a single rebound until 5 mins left in the 3rd quarter. Two total for the game. No pride. No heart. EJ all but called him a bitch in the 3rd quarter.

Ish looked really good tonight. I think I may trust him more than Torrey on both sides of the ball, although Torrey is a better rebounder.

If we sign more than one buyout guy, it means we can’t convert Ish and have him for the playoffs. It’s going to be a tough call. I feel like he’s earned it, but there are some decent players out there. It’s a question of if any of them are better defenders than Ish and I’m not sure they are. His D has been really solid lately.

Problem is I don’t trust Ish to defend point guards and that’s our biggest need. He’d be nice against bigger wings though.

The buyout market will be interesting…I got excited at first but I’m starting to think it’s not going to be as good as I thought. I think Reggie Jackson would be my first target…I’d look at Barton and Holiday…but it’s possible they are kinda washed. Danny Green might be as well, but he’s be another. Not sure any are better options than what we have.

If Payne isn’t healthy, backup pg is our biggest need, I also just think Jackson might be the best buyout guy overall. We don’t have the ideal 5th guy, but we kinda have every type covered and we can be flexible..

Need point of attack defense: Josh Okogie
Need wing defense: Ish or Craig
Need size and athleticism: Bazely
Need shooting: Lee or Shamet
Need shot creation: Warren

The Hawks broadcast is giving a bunch of shit to Ayton for his one rebound and overall meh game.
The Suns couldn’t get a defensive rebound to save their lives. Pretty pathetic. I don’t care how many suited up.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I think this is a write off game…short handed…up late saying goodbye…just emotional.

Hopefully tomorrow is more back to normal and we see a better performance.

Was glad to see DA looking as our main reliable offensive threat early but Capela was an issue from minute one
A bit bummed he couldn't keep him off the glass

Happy to see Okogie have a good game, we need one of those "defensive" guys to be playable

I'm not too fussed about it overall because of circumstances

Oh right
In the pregame, EJ and K-Ray were talking about how tough losing the Twin is for a couple minutes then shouted out Dario as guys we Lost Today

You can be literal and say that Jae was gone before today or you can be wicked and say that they flat out ignored him lol

You're right. I watched the pregame and there was definitely an intentional omission of Jae Crowder.

I'm a bit worried about the defensive rebounding right now. The Suns had been fantastic on the glass in the past few games so I'm sure the Hawks were making an extra effort to negate that advantage and they were fantastic.

Mikal and Cam were really incredible when it came to team rebounding. They were relentless and I hope the incoming players will also be as committed. It's going to be one of the first areas that opposing teams try to attack in the playoffs.

Props JeremyG for the most honest breakdown of his boy Ayton... It's great to have a favorite player and it's also OK to critique said player when it's necessary. Players will only get better with honest critique vs. being told constantly they're perfect. Seriously... kudos.

That's why it would have been great to get Vanderbilt. And why I'm still on board with signing Kevin Love (he's still averaging 12.3 reb per 36).

This season's been crazy... but it definitely feels like we're playing chess, while last year we're playing checkers. Feel's a lot more calculated and angled towards our post season run; kinda like the warriors last year. Just staying in the standing's well enough to get a favorable matchup in early rounds.
