Ugh, gross man. Totally feels like a sign and trade of Ayton for Kyrie but that’s me speculating, they didn’t say that scenario at all just that Phoenix wants Kyrie with KD and Book.

Also Haynes said Phoenix had visions of KD and Kyrie THIS SEASON. So don’t be surprised if they revisit that in the offseason

Which makes me feel like if we stuck to our guns we could have at least held Cam J out of the dealWally_West wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 1:18 pmListening to the new episode of this league uncut from Chris Haynes and Marc Stein and Chris Haynes described how the Durant trade went down. Basically, it started when Haynes called Chris Paul and ask if he was cool if he reported that he was offered in a Kyrie trade, Chris was already aware that he was and was fine with Haynes reporting and wasn’t mad about being offered at all, before their call ended Paul told him that they should see what they’re about to do next. So Haynes was already aware that something was going down just didn’t know what.
Haynes was really surprised about the trade and even more surprised how close to the chest this whole thing was and how nothing was leaked before. Basically KD only wanted Phoenix in the offseason and when he rescinded his trade request it was with the understanding that they would revisit this again during the season if it wasn’t working and that Joe Tsai/Marks would do right by him if it came to that point. When Kyrie was traded, they knew KD would want out.
This wasn’t a normal trade request, it was exclusively between Nets and the Suns and if they couldn’t come to an agreement then KD would finished the season with the nets. KD only wanted Phoenix. KD, his agent, Joe Tsai, Sean Marks, James Jones and Ishbia all worked on this to make sure everyone was happy and everyone was in the end. There’s no bad blood between KD and the nets, nets were fine doing right by KD. KD is now a Sun.

Why would we give up Ayton for no reason? Kyrie is a free agent.Wally_West wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 1:30 pmAlso Haynes said Phoenix had visions of KD and Kyrie THIS SEASON. So don’t be surprised if they revisit that in the offseason![]()

I feel like we could have at least held onto something, even if it was just pick protections, if Ishbia had been patient enough to wait into Thursday. Gambo said the Nets got everything they were asking for in the summer. So we might as well have made this deal back then.specialsauce wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 1:31 pmWhich makes me feel like if we stuck to our guns we could have at least held Cam J out of the dealWally_West wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 1:18 pmListening to the new episode of this league uncut from Chris Haynes and Marc Stein and Chris Haynes described how the Durant trade went down. Which one of you generous folk can show us what we want to see
Re: Suns News: Week 17 (2/6 - 2/12)
So it sounds like the Nets only kept demanding more the longer it took and the more we gave them. Yikes. Maybe KD could have stepped up and threatened to sit out, but that's not KD. So perhaps they felt like they didn't absolutely have to trade him.
Still kind of crazy that we let emotion (what else could it be?) stop us from including Crowder who wasn't even playing for us. Fortunately Mat at least came to his senses.

We had leverage, hope we didn't blow it. KD only wanted Phoenix. I'm sure Jones knew that, the players knew it, the Nets knew it. KD didn't want to be traded anywhere else, he would've sat out the rest of the season and forced a trade in the offseason if this deal didn't get done.. Maybe he would've had more options in the offseason but I doubt it. Hopefully Ishbia didn't screw the pooch. Jones might've been waiting until the 11th hour to try and get the best deal, which could've meant keeping a pick or maybe Cam or Mikal. Or at the very least exhaust all options, make them sweat a bit and then go with a final offer.
Not exactly apples to apples but I remember Dolan taking over negotiations from Donnie Walsh during the Melo deal and trading away half the team, which set them back a lot. Walsh was waiting until the last minute because he knew Melo wanted NY and the Nuggets had no choice but to deal with them.
Either way, this is why you don't start making trades on December 15th when players become eligible. You don't panic and send assets away in January for marginal moves.

Idk it feel’s definitely one sided toward Brooklyn, the article said that they listen to offers and that KD never specified a team in the summer when he asked out and we know THATS NOT TRUE. KD only wanted Phoenix, that’s it. Nothing else. All this smoke about KD would like Miami and Boston from Woj and others over the summer was not true. It was Phoenix or back to Brooklyn until they could figure out Phoenix. I’m sure BK originally wanted Mikal, Cam and fuckin Ayton but just not revealing that.JeremyG wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 2:18 pmSo it sounds like the Nets only kept demanding more the longer it took and the more we gave them. We got to remember, the Nets are the ones who massively fucked up here, they are the ones that failed to win championship with Kyrie, Harden and KD. They’ve also shown they have been willing to leak everything, especially to ESPN and to use them for their own leverage. So while I’m willing to bet a lot of stuff is true in this article, Im also 100% certain there’s a lot we don’t know that They’ll not telling us and stuff they are saying to make themselves look better, seeing how James Jones very much doesn’t play the media game like that, I’m sure he’s more than happy for Nets to tell their side of the story that makes themselves look good. Freaking Sean Marks is quoted from this article! All the quotes from the Suns side is stuff that other people saying what was said.
In the end, JJ got exactly what he wanted all along- KD. What other people think or think what happened doesn’t matter.
Re: Suns News: Week 17 (2/6 - 2/12)
Would he?
So the KD deal doesn't get done without Jae Crowder?
Re: Suns News: Week 17 (2/6 - 2/12)
The players you listed had a lot to do with the Nets not winning a championship.Wally_West wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 2:43 pmWe got to remember, the Nets are the ones who massively f---ed up here, they are the ones that failed to win championship with Kyrie, Harden and KD.

Regarding Crowder...maybe not. The Nets seem to have specifically wanted Crowder to flip elsewhere for assets. I think I read we offered them Dario and they held out for Jae, knowing he had a market. And what would Jae have gotten us in December? Grayson Allen?
Re: Suns News: Week 17 (2/6 - 2/12)
I believe he would. Mega Superstars like KD aren't risking themselves for shit teams they don't want to play for. He wasn't going to kill himself dragging Dinwiddie, Simmons, DFS and Claxton to a 2nd round exit and he wasn't going to wait out a rebuild. That's how these stars are now, and especially ones near the end of their careers who just want to win and see their legacies thru.

I just don’t believe Jae Crowder was holding up this deal at all at any point. If we really wanted him out of the deal so we can make additional move then could’ve a long time ago, we also had the salary to make the deal without him, we had Dario, Shamet, Cam’s contract, could’ve combined him with Payne or Craig even.
KD wanted Phoenix plain and simple. James Jones knew this, Book knew it, CP knew it, Ishbia knew it when he took over, Joe Tsai and Marks knew it.
Other teams made offers, we know that because the nets leaked it lol. they all didn’t go anywhere because KD wanted Phoenix. There’s a reason why they only dealt with us at the deadline, cuz KD wasn’t going anywhere else. Lol

Sure, but so what? They’re not some helpless victim here. They were ready and willing to go along with what their stars wanted to do and did it, they didn’t have too. I have no sympathy for them. Same with us, if it this shit back fires, that’s on Ishbia and JJ. Oh well.

I’m don’t even buy that the Nets were “holding out for Crowder too” thing. The salary we traded was bare minimum and the salary bill for Ishbia is gonna be crazy because of it. Rumor was we wanted to add Dario instead but Nets didn’t want that and demanded Jae instead. Is that true? Jae makes more money than Dario, almost a million more but you know what works still?
Mikal, Cam, Jae AND DARIO for KD and Warren. It’s nearly identical money. I don’t have the number in front of me but is only maybe a million or less difference but in the Suns favor. Us not adding Dario only benefitted Joe Tsai’s wallet. I just don’t believe for one second that we were reluctant to include Crowder, bridges? Absolutely, not Crowder tho.
