That's fine but I just want to know about the 5 seed.

Won’t know about the 5th seed until Sunday…here’s the big games though:
Golden State @ Sacramento - a GS loss would make it almost impossible they end up 5. They don’t have the tiebreaker over anyone, so they’d have to finish with a better record than everyone. A loss means the best they can do is go 43-39. Clippers would need to lose out(including a game to Portland), Lakers would need to lose to either us or the Jazz, and the Pels would need to lose to either the Knicks or Wolves.
A GS win keeps them in play for 5.
The other big game is Pelicans - Knicks. A Pelicans loss would also essentially eliminate them from the 5 seed as they’d also need LAC to lose out.
Lakers would be eliminated from the 5 seed chase if they lose to us tonight or the Jazz on Sunday.
Here’s the scenarios:
Clippers go 2-0 and they get the 5 seed no matter what happens in other games.
If Clippers go 1-1:
GS gets the 5 seed if they go 2-0 no matter what happens in the other games.
If LAC and GS both go 1-1:
NOP gets the 5 seed if they go 2-0 no matter what happens with LAL
If LAC, GS, and NOP go 1-1:
The Clippers will be the 5 seed.
The Lakers only path to the 5 seed is If LAC loses out as they can’t win any tiebreakers against the Clippers.
If all 4 teams tie, so either:
LAC/GS both 1-1 and LAL/NOP 2-0 or
LAC/GS both 0-2 and LAL/NOP 1-1
NOP gets the 5 seed.
There is one scenario where Minny gets the 5 seed still but it’s way too complicated to happen. I don’t know exactly what it is, but LAC and GS would have to go 0-2 and Minny would need to go 2-0. Not sure how the Lakers/Pels factor, but LAL would need to lose at least 1. NOP would already be losing to Minny in this scenario.
Here’s the tiebreakers essentially:
Clippers have tiebreakers over Lakers and Warriors.
Pels have tiebreakers over Clippers and Warriors
Lakers have tiebreakers over Warriors and Pels
Warriors have no tiebreakers.
3 team tiebreakers:
Clips win the Lakers/Clips/Warriors tiebreaker
Pels win the Clips/Pels/Lakers tiebreaker and the Clips/Pels/Warriors tiebreaker
Lakers win the Lakers/Warriors/Pels tiebreaker
Pels win the 4 team tiebreaker.
That might be more confusing than helpful, but that’s the guide haha.

Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/3-4/9)
I think we can probably assume LAL will win out, NOP will beat NY, and GS and LAC will beat Portland. That means the big games are:
New Orleans vs Minny on Sunday
Golden State vs Sacramento tonight and
Phoenix vs LAC on Sunday.
So realistic scenarios:
If Clippers win they are 5.
If Clippers lose and GS wins, GS is 5
If Clippers and GS lose and NOP wins, NOP is 5
If they all lose, LAC is 5.
New Orleans vs Minny on Sunday
Golden State vs Sacramento tonight and
Phoenix vs LAC on Sunday.
So realistic scenarios:
If Clippers win they are 5.
If Clippers lose and GS wins, GS is 5
If Clippers and GS lose and NOP wins, NOP is 5
If they all lose, LAC is 5.

It's all a bit complicated. I appreciate the nicely detailed description, but there are so many variables, I think I'll just watch and see after tonight's games rather than trying to unpack all of it.

Pretty blatant tanking to keep a draft pick.
Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/3-4/9)
I think Luka's taken over the "hated by everyone" title that used to be reserved for Book.

Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/3-4/9)
I don’t think Book quite had that title…he was on the 2nd team, but people hate Harden, Westbrook, Draymond, and LeBron more. But yes, Luka is also there.
Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/3-4/9)
I'd vote for him. He's near the top of my list if not THE top.

No thanks. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

So I believe the following is true: the Warriors are currently listed at #5, but basically if any other team ties their record, they'll pass the Warriors? So like if the Clips win out, they get #5? Or hypothetically if the Warriors lose their last game, the Clips or Lakers could tie and therefore pass them to get #5? Is that right?

Bad news for Memphis: Steven Adams is out for the playoffs with his knee injury. That is a tough loss for them.

Yes the warriors have to finish with the best record. They lose every tie breaker. But if the clippers lose today(they are losing as we speak), warriors would control their destiny. A win would get them 5…but a loss could make them 8thMori Chu wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 10:58 amSo I believe the following is true: the Warriors are currently listed at #5, but basically if any other team ties their record, they'll pass the Warriors? I’d swap Harden and Poole for Brooks and Klay and you’d have mine.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 1:51 pmLuka, Harden, Poole, Pat Bev, Ja
