Thanks. It’s in-state, actually moving closer to Phoenix again, but moving over a several day period which is taking up almost all of my time haha. I should be able to catch the game tonight, though!AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 7:50 pmGood luck with the move. Moving sucks. Are you staying in state or is it a long move?JeremyG wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 4:26 pmThis playoff run is not over. Ask me again when it is.
In case anyone was wondering why I haven’t been posting, I’m in the middle of a big move right now, so I wasn’t even able to watch the game last night. I heard he was playing through a rib injury or something though?

Is it a work-related move? Glad you're staying in state / in city! I hope you don't ever get too upset with my Ayton takes. We all have different basketball opinions and I love that. This isn't an echo chamber. Outside of disagreements on team or player views, I hope you know I respect and appreciate you and anyone here as a person. I always feel bad because I had a lot of beef on the boards with SwingMan and took it personally, as did he. I was a younger guy back then and I think him passing away was a learning lesson for me.JeremyG wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 9:31 amThanks. What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Atlanta gave up a slew of first round picks to get Murray. They'd definitely want some first round picks back in return.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 1:57 amDejounte Murray and Capela for CP3 and Ayton. Got to get star caliber players on the cheap.

They're doing worse than the Suns and need a shake up. Old CP3 could be very good for them.Uncle_Gene wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 12:03 pmAtlanta gave up a slew of first round picks to get Murray. If the Celts bomb out, some friends were suggesting Jalen Brown for the Suns. For whom? Hard to say. You might need more than Ayton but if we want to flip Durant for Brown and other pieces, you could do a lot worse.

After one season ? I don't know. Let's see what they do with John Collins first. His name had been in trade rumors for a while. I wouldn't be totally against that trade, I just don't see it happening.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 12:05 pmThey're doing worse than the Suns and need a shake up. We aren’t trading KD…Ayton won’t get us Brown.
It’s gonna be more of the same next year, except we’ll try to upgrade spots 3-8.
KD/Book and role players is what we are. It would be nice to have 1 more guy who can create their own shot at a reasonable level, but I’m not counting on it.

Everyone knows what he can be. All anyone really wants is 2021 playoffs Ayton. Expectations are simply too high, he doesn’t know how to function in the emotional milieu of a serious team who’s love language is work ethic, competitiveness, and geeking out on basketball. It’s just not who he is. There’s no Cam Johnson or Mikal Bridges to keep things light. Ayton is a likeable dude who everyone is nice too because they know he cracks when pushed too much.specialsauce wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 8:42 pmNobody is trading for DAs contract, let alone giving up assets to acquire it.
Ayton is going to be seen as salvageable (by a team without options to get an actual star). He’s still young (and on a max contract). Everyone knows what he (once was before being paid). All anyone really wants is (rookie scale) Ayton.
I agree on all the other stuff.

Thanks man, I appreciate that! I try not to take things personally, and I definitely understand and respect the anti-Ayton (or “ready to move on from Ayton”) crowd.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:36 amIs it a work-related move? I’ve always respected the anti-Ayton crowd. It doesn’t mean I agree with them.

Understanding an opposing point of view does not mean I am going to agree with it. I would rather change what I feel is at the root of the team’s problem (coaching staff) rather than keep shuffling the players and getting the same results.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 1:52 pmRespected, yes. Hope your move goes well, Jeremy. Moving can kind of suck, but it can also be a great time to reset, get rid of some old junk, and find a happier new place.
Re: All Things Ayton
You're not wrong about coaching... I agree we need a change and don't think Monty can lead these guys like he has in the past. There's a lot of issues with the Suns... it's a complex situation for sure and I'm hopeful this new ownership will help get the team steered onto the road to winning it all.JeremyG wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 2:06 pmUnderstanding an opposing point of view does not mean I am going to agree with it. It's unfortunate that Aytons time here is ending on a negative note... I'm sure there's a team out there that will appreciate his skill set; which unfortunately isn't what fits this teams needs. We need a dirt worker and someone whos wanting to get physical.
Good luck with the move JeremyG! Hope it all goes well.
Re: All Things Ayton
I don’t think Monty failed with DA from a basketball perspective but it sure seems like he did on a personal level. He did not get DA to put his feelings aside and give max effort this year. DA was obviously salty about how the RFA process played out, despite the outcome, and the whole management team failed in smoothing that over. Not absolving DA. Dude got a max contract and loafed through the year, which is inexcusable.
Interesting that 40% of our starting lineup from our finals team is going to leave on really bad terms with Monty.

Also, good luck with your impending move to cha-hornets.net. I hope those dudes appreciate DA in all the ways that we didn’t.Kryptonic wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 2:32 pmYou're not wrong about coaching... (Kidding, obviously. Hope you stay a Suns fan even when DA is balling in Guandong)
