I don't know. That deal puts us at such a distinct disadvantage for a really long time to come. Maybe if we get a great return on an Ayton deal, jettison Shamet, and land Naz Reid with MLE.

Re: 2023 General Offseason/PostSeason League News
We traded something like 60 player-years for three. This isn’t the sort of thing you recover from. The hope is that we’ll win a championship to make it all worthwhile. We’re going to be paying for that championship for a long, long time, whether we win it or not.

Speaking of the MLE.. 3-4 months ago I wondered aloud if Austin Reaves could get the full MLE this summer. I think he might get $100M now. What a season for him.

I pray for whatever team would think about doing that.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 4:49 pmSpeaking of the MLE.. 3-4 months ago I wondered aloud if Austin Reaves could get the full MLE this summer. I think he might get $100M now. What a season for him.

It would be an overpay for now, but he's only 24 and going to improve. $15-18M/year seems pretty realistic.

Who’s got cap space? Seems like he’s played himself out of the Lakers range
Re: 2023 General Offseason/PostSeason League News
What's Luke Kennard getting paid? I'd maybe pay him that.

He's so much better than Kennard.

I don't see it. He looks quite average when he's not getting his old man game foul bait calls.

He's not going to stop getting those calls. He has a really high basketball IQ and a fantastic shot.
I think he's really good and I hope someone pays him a lot to get him away from the Lakers.

Re: 2023 General Offseason/PostSeason League News
He benefits great deal from the gravity generated by Lebron and Davis. It would be a great mistake to take him away from those two and paying him $20mill on top of it. Think Caruso on the Bulls, the guy came back to earth, and lost his value going from $2 to $9. Reaves is better offensively, but the team that takes him from $1.5 to $20 is going to regret it deeply, once it shows he perhaps is not even a fringe starter without the Laker whistle and two super stars by his side.

Re: 2023 General Offseason/PostSeason League News
You make good some good points that I agree with in general. I also wouldn't want the Suns to pay him $20M a year, that was more of a "some team might" type of valuation. Kind of like it only took one team to offer Ayton a max contract.
I'm interested to see who'll get the bigger contract, Austin Reaves or Cam Johnson. I think Cam is a really good role player, but I'd rather pay Reaves if the salaries are similar.

Also Luke Kennard makes 15 million a year. He signed a 4 year 64 million dollar contract.

There are approximately 80 players on the books for $18 million or more next season. Somebody will pay Reaves at least that.

Fucking Spurs. I was pulling for Portland.
Re: 2023 General Offseason/PostSeason League News
Spurs don’t have much else…they need to find themselves a pg now.
Re: 2023 General Offseason/PostSeason League News
I was hoping he'd go east. Fuck the Spurs.

Here's hoping Wemby is more Ayton than Robinson.
