If you swap them out I don't think the Lakers miss a beat. Neither one of them defend well, gimme Kennard with AD and LeBrons gravity, he'd avg 20 on 12 shots a game.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 9:29 pmIf this were true, the Nuggets would be playing the Warriors right now.TOO wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 8:38 pmSame guy.

Love, Hurts.
Re: 2023 Playoffs: Around the League Round 2 News Thread
I didn’t mention scoring. People complained about the 19 to 7 rebounding discrepancy in game 1. So why aren’t you criticizing Davis for the 21 to 10 rebounding discrepancy in this game 1?
As for scoring, yes it was very stupid of Monty to leave Ayton out of the offense and not let him got at Jokic and make him work on the defensive end.

I agree, Monty was stupid not using Ayton against Joker. He shot 58% from the field against Denver.

Yea, I didn't like Monty's rotations of not matching him with Jokic minute for minute (albeit when he wasn't in foul trouble)... To me, that's just coaching 101.

I would not over pay for Austin reeves either. But i can see him deserving 15-18 million per year.
Re: 2023 Playoffs: Around the League Round 2 News Thread
Of course you didn't mention scoring; that would make your point look silly (which it is). If the Lakers were only asking AD to compete on the boards against Jokic, then yeah, there would be criticism. But they're not. They need him to be the man on offense, to be aggressive, and punish the Nuggets. He did just that. He also was key to their defense getting them back in the game in the second half.JeremyG wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 7:23 amI didn’t mention scoring. I hate that I am even engaging on this topic. Ugh.

It's hard having a debate with Ayton's dad. I get it though. I'd defend my kid too any chance I get.INFORMER wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 11:34 amOf course you didn't mention scoring; that would make your point look silly (which it is). What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I posted about not seeing a way to stop Jokic in the paint before this series started and thought maybe AD would do a decent job. So far, not so much. I doubt he underestimated him going into Game 1, so I'm not really sure what he can do in a 1v1 from here forward.

I thought we should have a thread dedicated to the next round, even though we aren't in it. :'( Moved some posts here that were about WCF / ECF games and teams.
Re: 2023 Playoffs: Around the League Round 3 (WCF/ECF) News Thread
Is Miami really heading to the Finals? That team is having an incredible run. We’ve seen them play like this in past years, so it’s not the biggest shock, but they’ve looked like the best team in the East at least these playoffs. It’s not over, but I’m leaning Miami over Boston. The coaching gap is wide.
Re: 2023 Playoffs: Around the League Round 3 (WCF/ECF) News Thread
Miami is going nuts. Can't believe they stole Game 1 in Boston. I think part of what we are seeing is the benefit of recent Finals/championship experience. The Lakers and Heat are low seeds and shouldn't have gotten this far, but they are veteran teams that have just been there recently in the past few years, so they know what it takes. And their stars know how to elevate their games when it matters most. Jimmy Butler has been just an assassin.

I think it's funny how almost all of us wanted Vanderbilt and he's been invisible for basically the entire playoffs.
