I guess Gambo is saying CP3 won’t be the suns pg next year at 30.8 million. He’s saying waive him and re-sign at the minimum.
Just seems like that’s against the CBA but haven’t seen any expert say we can’t do it. More than fine with that if that’s the case.

If the Suns can acquire Scoot and don't I might die inside. That dude D Rose before the knees gave out.

As long as he clears waivers you can do it

I just hope we can lock them into a good deal. #3 plus a starting caliber player is good enough. Scoot is worth it. I get vibes of Fox from him or D Rose. Even if he has no shot, he can be a guy who gets to the line, and puts pressure on the rim. He’ll have plenty of options to pass. Imagine a player like him doing a Spain PnR with KD and Book.

I don't think you can do that, practically speaking. When you waive a guy, other teams get the right to pick him up on waivers if they want him. Some team would do that, so the Suns wouldn't get to re-sign CP3.

No one would pick CP3 up, they’d have to take on his 30.8 million dollar salary.

I've got a crazy idea...

Lillard and Nuric for DA and Shamet straight up...

...if accepted it would be to do Lillard the favor of putting him in a winning situation...and Portland can build around Scoot and DA. To me this is no crazier than passing us the #3 for DA.

Then, negotiate a deal with Paul down and have him as the main #2 pt guard.

You still need some depth added...add'l idea, negotiate a 1 year extension for KD and Book to take a cut this year to gather some funds for a bench player or two. Not sure if that'd cut it, but go sign Barnes and/or Wood of possible to add depth. Kind of random, but nothing better to do tonight...

...I'm going to prognosticate for fun...Lillard and Nuric in Suns unis by draft... :D ...hey, it could happen...

Starting Lineup: Lillard, Booker, Barnes, KD, Nuric
Bench: CP, Landale, Biyombo, Torey/TJ, Lee

Again...wild hair, but if it came true, that sounds like a solid lineup to make a run with...wish the outside shooting could get a boost, but seems workable.

I think Okogie gets a lot of run on this squad.

Why would Paul agree to that? If we cut him, he can get more than minimum elsewhere.

Agree...if we got a surefire pot for DA, I think he'd consider staying...

If the Suns can get the 3rd pick from Portland and Scoot is still there at 3. Just take him. No need to overthink that. Our championship window is probably 2 more years? A backcourt of Book and Scoot would extend that window to the next decade and chance to be one of the backcourts ever.
Exactly. I think a lot of people are seriously underestimating Scoot. Not saying I want to trade DA, but if we do trade him I wouldn't trade Scoot too.

I don't think Portland does that deal. They love Dame and want to try to put one more contending team around him. I don't think they would trade away maybe the greatest player in franchise history for the likes of DeAndre Ayton.

Like I said...only if it was agreed to put him in a winning position...and again, if its viable we get the 3 for DA, this scenario is just as possible...

I think Scoot is great. I’d have no problem keeping him, but I just doubt Book, KD, and JJ would want to keep him.

Scoot would open up a larger championship window I think, but you could make the current one larger by trading him. Just depends on whether you’d want to maximize the current window or extend it.

Of course this depends on what you could get. Would OG Anunoby be enough? Jaylen Brown? Pascal Siakam? WCJ+Fultz? Mikal?

I also think Charlotte will take Scoot anyways and the pick would be Brandon Miller. I’d definitely trade him.

I also think it’s crazy to think 3 is even in play for us. It’s not

In the unlikely event we can nab the 3rd pick I think it's more likely that we trade it to the Clippers for Lue.

Nobody is trading a top 5 pick for a coach.
