Ishbia's a wildcard but Jones has been big on continuity and Young would provide continuity while also providing a change of ideas and schemes without a major shakeup in the program. A new coach like Nurse, Vogel, Rivers might be too drastic given our window. We don't need a complete reset with a new voice, new staff, new "culture" looking to establish itself learning the players and the org. Young may also be safer for Jones himself, who could lose a potential power struggle with a bigger name coach like Rivers or Vogel.

Nurse had a bigger let down than Monty did in my view; That team is f---ing stacked and they had an awful year.

This. I think Nurse is a good coach, but I wouldn't ignore what a terrible year a very talented Toronto team had. I know a different voice can help, but I don't see how you fire Monty to hire a guy that couldn't get a very talented roster into the playoffs.

I think if the Suns are going to keep Ayton (groan), they should go with Vogel. If not, go with Young. I think Vogel has the best chance of getting something more out of Ayton than any other candidate.

Young apparently has Book's endorsement (per Marc Stein), and Young also had a frontrow seat to see everything that wasn't working. So maybe that gives him an advantage over any external candidate.

I hope so. I’ve wondered what the deal was. Everyone in this league generally knows who they want when they’re hiring for a coach and things get locked up fast. Perhaps this is Ishbia enjoying the process of being an owner.

Ya'll wrong...Young gets a year try out...if he does great things, fine...if not, next year Lue comes off his contract and will get the call...

Or Young is a bridge to Bob Myers (who it sounds like wants some time off) and...Steve Kerr, whose contract also ends next summer.

Young isn't a Monty clone. He can still be new blood even if he was on the staff. Look at the Raps firing Casey and elevating Nurse.
