How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Do we think we would have beaten the Nugs with Turner or Sabonis?
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Sabonis and Ayton are very different. Ayton is a much more mobile defender.Split T wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 5:53 pmEven after pairing him with Sabonis didn’t really work?INFORMER wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 3:30 pmI think, if they are still interested in Ayton, they will want to pair him with Turner.

Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Jokic is likely killing anyone at this point, but Turner's rim protection would've helped a lot, I think. Sabonis would've probably helped more replacing Paul than Ayton.

Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Russillo mentioned that Turner plays Jokic pretty well. I haven’t seen it, but thought it was interesting. And he shoots, which makes defending the pnr more difficult as Turner can pop to 3 and be wide open.

Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Agreed. To be honest, the motivation to sign Ayton to a max offer sheet knowing the Sun's would almost certainly match it may simply have been a move to placate their fanbase. A 'We went after a max center but unfortunately he resigned with the Suns' , better luck next time kind of deal.
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Someone told me Gambo said suns want to bring Landale and Okogie back…didn’t hear anything about any other guys.
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Of course they should bring those guys back.
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Yep, two of my favorite role players from this last season.

More importantly, they should be retainable near minimum salaries.
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
That too. I don't know about it being more important though.

Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
If Monty ends up if Detroit, I’d love to trade Shamet for Burks or Marvin Bagley. I think Bagley could have a Channing Frye type resurgence with us, also a hometown kid just like Channing was.

AND WHAT ABOUT THE REUNITING OF AYTON AND BAGLEY! WHOA! Ok, maybe not that great.Wally_West wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 10:13 amIf Monty ends up if Detroit, I’d love to trade Shamet for Burks or Marvin Bagley. LOL! I didn't even think about the value of Monty coaching another team in terms of creating a suitor for Mr. Shamet's services.Wally_West wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 10:13 amIf Monty ends up if Detroit, I’d love to trade Shamet for Burks or Marvin Bagley. Take the Detroit job Monty!!!!
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Maybe Okogie's poor showing in the playoffs will be a blessing in disguise. If he'd been awesome in the playoffs, he probably would fetch too high a salary for us to keep him. But now we can probably get him to stick around on a reasonable contract. And maybe he can work on his shooting and become more consistent this coming season.
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Landale sure, but I think JO might cost significantly more.

Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
I thought so at one point, but he couldn’t play in the Denver series…I wouldn’t pay someone more than the minimum that can’t play in the playoffs. Landale was more useful.
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to be able to afford Okogie. I think his play this year caught plenty of teams' eyes and one will come through with an offer for a portion of the MLE or the TPMLE.
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Good for him if some team gives him that, I wouldn’t offer more than the minimum.

Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
Yeah, I think Okogie played himself back to a minimum contract.
Re: How Would You Rebuild the Suns?
I think you got that backwards. Monty is the one who didn’t want him on the team.
