I’m fine with Payne…I just don’t know that we’re getting a replacement with the money we have.
Trade Payne to Boston for Payton Pritchard, Mike Muscala, and the #35 pick. Next.
We’re sending DA to Boston for Smart and Williams . Next.
I think they'll keep Smart, unless they are getting a better point guard in the trade, like Chris Paul.
Ah, a slight adjustment to your post and the trade makes even more sense now

We aren't passing the second round with Paul and Payne as our PG rotation. This has to be improved, even more than figuring out what to do about Ayton...

I really don't think the issue is that our point guard position isn't good enough. We just need more talent around Durant and Booker. I don't think that duo requires an all-star point guard.

If Paul stays they'd need a steady PG who can play at least 20mpg because I don't want Paul out there anymore than 28mpg. Payne isn't it, he can't stay on the floor.

The thing is, you can't really find a guy who is able to play 20ppg at high level. If you find a guy like that, he's probably good enough to be a starter, and you aren't going to get him on a small dollar contract.

Do you know who averaged 19.9 mpg last year? Seth Curry. Shake Milton also averaged 20 minutes per game…and in his 11 starts when Harden/Maxey were hurt he averaged 20/7/4 on a .618 TS%

Yeah, a solid defender who can play off the ball is all we really need. Someone like Melton would be ideal....

Wrong again...when Paul played well, the team did better...despite Ayton's issues...

Agree. The need for a 10 apg guard is mitigated by Booker's and Durant's ability to make plays.
No need for another Scott/Johnson/Kidd/Nash/Paul.
Suns would be better off getting a savvy player or two who can pass and do multiple tasks.
Somebody like Kyle Anderson. Not a star, but solid complementary player...
Window is open again ... blue skies ahead?

Our point guard position is NOT good enough in the way that we need our PG to play currently.

Paul is not an off-ball PG. He’s a poor defender at this stage. He’s reluctant to take the catch and shoot 3. He doesn’t push the ball up the court.

We need a PG like Marcus Smart. Can drain the open 3, defend his position well and bring the ball up the court to give Book and KD a break.

Is there a reason why it's now Monday afternoon and the Suns have still not announced this hire? Seems a bit strange.

Both Vogel and Fizdale are tough coaches. I don't think they'll let anybody give less than their best effort. Hopefully Young can help make sure our offense isn't too stagnant; still a bit worried about things on that end of the floor.

Ugh. Just announce Isiah Thomas and get it over with already.

I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like they're getting the assistants in order first.

Ayton is not going to be able to take plays, games, days, or weeks off this upcoming season. They are going to be on him.
