And...if it's just the Suns putting up smoke when there's no real fire, then keep him as an expiring for next year and trade him based on that status. I think that their trade leverage increases after the waive deadline for this year. Gotta play hardball.
I agree. Perhaps they are only going to waive him if they know he wants to re-sign.

Of course they won't, taking Ayton would be doing the Suns a favor.
As much as I ended up despising McDonough's assets-oriented approach, I think that the Suns need to be smarter about trades than taking other teams' pu pu platters in return for the likes of an Ayton. There's still a lot of folks who think that he could be rehabilitated -- and I'm one of them. You just need one of them to bite, otherwise, no deal.

Same for Chris Paul. If chatter is to be believed, a lot of teams want him. If you want to trade one player for a bunch of role players, it should be CP3. Not Ayton. Need some kind of star power or a high draft pick for him.
I agree with needing to get good value in return or no deal. I hope that Ayton can be salvaged but I don't have much confidence in it. I'd love to be surprised.

Resigning CP3 is not a good decision. This team needs depth in a bad way and our only assets are CP and DAs contracts.

We badly need a shooting, fast tempo, defending PG.

Keeping CP is essentially going to nail us as a first or second round exit unless they get real lucky with the TPMLE

Honestly the PG I'd like to end up with is Marcus Smart. The Celtics are going to change something just like we are. Idk how interested they would be in Paul but having a floor general like him could help their offense.. Smart would give us that griddy toughness that we need. Under Vogel, he'd be an excellent pick up.

Do you think if I call him "Viking" instead that he'll mind?😬

I would love Smart…I’m just not sure I see that happening. Brogdon would seem more attainable to me

His first takes a good one, off to a good start.

Do you also think Kelly Oubre resembles everything that is wrong with todays society?

Do you hate Mike James?

Is Luka Doncic a bitch?

I would happily trade Paul for Brogdon.

My hope was DA for Smart and Williams

Could someone explain what happened with Brogdon? He's clearly a good player but he was abysmal in the ECF. He shot 30% from the field and 16% from 3. Got to the point where Boston barely played him by game 5 and 6. I know there was some kind of injury but I don't remember it being bad because it was game time decision stuff.

I hope so if we're pursuing him. Just are luck to get him past his prime.

I guess if GS just wants off Poole. I’d do that

I cannot stand Poole. His attitude is ridiculous and his IQ is so low.

But I don’t hate it. He’ll shoot us into some games. It’s not the WORST idea. His contract is God awful though.

Depends on the Poole you get. If you get 2021-22 Poole it’s a steal. If you get 22-23 Poole then it’s not so great. Probably somewhere between.

I can understand thinking he's overpaid because he's subpar at so many things besides scoring, but I think there's quite a bit of talent to be salvaged there after all the drama in the Bay this past season. Coincidentally, it's the perspective some people have about Ayton in Phoenix.

I honestly wouldn't really want to have either guy under their current contract.

Poole's got homerun ability for sure and I'd bet on the possibility of being able to move him later on. Might be similar to the Ws using DAR as a stopgap and moving him for Wiggins who turned out to be a better fit and key piece for them.

I can't stand Poole either. But if you can get him for Paul you might have to do it.
