I think it would be about getting off the Poole contract more than anything. They’d try and bring CP3 off the bench. But I also don’t super get it from a basketball standpoint.

My other thought with Portland…there was that ridiculous talk about getting the 3rd pick for Ayton, but they also have another 1st rounder. What if we could do something built around the 23rd pick?

The 23 would be to take on the Nurkic deal.

Portland is more likely to use Simons to land Siakim, and Simons could easily be considered a better player than Ayton. So I don't see Portland sacrificing Simons and a 1st rounder, just to upgrade from Nurkic to Ayton.

That’s fair…but what’s the alternative? Ayton is also a high priced player that doesn’t seem to fit. There may be better options on what to do with Ayton, but we’ll have to see.

I like where the Suns are going either Ayton, trade him if there's a deal that is actually good, or rehab him if there isn't. My nightmare is the Suns trading him for a bunch of scrubs or mediocre role players on long term deals. I don't think this will happen given Vogel.

Warrick and Hedo weren't good players. Period. There was no reason to want those players at any cost. And that isn't hindsight, especially coming from me.

I haven't seen a single trade proposed on this site that even comes close to those awful moves.

I said 90% washed, which I stand by. He could hardly stay on the court after the his first season with the Knicks. Good for him for sticking around as long as he did, but the Suns would've been down bad if they had given him the same 5-year, $100M deal that he got from the Knicks.

Eh. In those years, it was the Lakers and everyone else. The teams that made it to the Conference Finals weren't that good. Melo's Denver team that got beat the Lakers is a prime example.

Plus, Amare wasn't that good in that Lakers series. That was part of why we lost. His performance didn't inspire me to want five more years of that with his injury concerns.

Same for Chris Paul. If chatter is to be believed, a lot of teams want him. If you want to trade one player for a bunch of role players, it should be CP3. Not Ayton. Need some kind of star power or a high draft pick for him.

Ayton isn't a star, so I don't understand this belief that he is going to net you a star.

And teams want Chris Paul as a free agent, not a $30 million trade acquisition.

CP3 for Poole has some merit for both teams, and like you said saucy, it isn't the worst idea for the Suns. We just would have so many needs that Poole doesn't address; I don't think he is a great fit next to Book/KD, and I don't know if he is a player that will mesh well with Vogel. Plus, with Poole, you're essentially adding another Ayton-like situation. And speaking of Ayton, if you're keeping him, it makes zero sense to add another ball dominant player that needs a ton of touches to be effective.

The Suns were one Artest put back away from maybe taking out the Lakers and going to the Finals where they may have won their first title.

I think how we talk about that game is misleading. Three points that I think are important:

1. If Artest doesn’t get that rebound and put back, we still have to win in OT
2. Jason Richardson banked in a 3 just to tie it. Might have been more of a lucky shot than Artest.
3. We still went home and lost game 6 on our own floor.

Sure, it’s possible that Artest putback flipped the series, but I think LA was better and we almost got lucky.
