2023 Free Agency Thread
Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
Am I crazy for thinking Westbrook would actually make sense here? He’s had success with both Beal and Durant. The spacing for him would be incredible. He also plays every game(unlike our big 3).
But Vogel already got fired because he couldn’t make Westbrook work with the Lakers. I don’t imagine either wants to return to the relationship.
Just trying to come up with vet min signings that make sense and actually give us real depth.

I never thought I'd say it but I'd love Westbrook on this team. As you say he'd be a really good fit here and his robustness is a real asset.Split T wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 7:26 amAm I crazy for thinking Westbrook would actually make sense here? His Clippers run impressed me and showed he still has some juice left in the tank.
Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
I'd take him at the minimum. But nothing more. I also don't think he would want to play here nor that we would be pursuing him.

Before anyone suggests it....no.

Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
There are at least 15 free agents I would be interested in, besides our own (some of these may not be realistic on the vet min unless they aren't getting offers they want elsewhere):
Dennis Schroder
D'Angelo Russell
Caris Lavert
Joe Ingles
Jae Crowder
Kevin Love
Seth Curry
Donte DiVincenzo
Dario Saric
JaMychal Green
Jeff Green
Matisse Thybulle
Montrezl Harrell
Jaylen Nowell
Victor Oladipo
Dennis Schroder
D'Angelo Russell
Caris Lavert
Joe Ingles
Jae Crowder
Kevin Love
Seth Curry
Donte DiVincenzo
Dario Saric
JaMychal Green
Jeff Green
Matisse Thybulle
Montrezl Harrell
Jaylen Nowell
Victor Oladipo

Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
That's fair. Given the recent compliments he received from KD, I think he'd be ok about playing here, but agree it's doubtful we'd pursue him in the first place.
Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
I’d take pretty much any of them at the minimum. I think Vogel coached Montrezl and I think I heard that wasn’t a great relationship.JeremyG wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 11:38 amThere are at least 15 free agents I would be interested in, besides our own (some of these may not be realistic on the vet min unless they aren't getting offers they want elsewhere):

I think Oladipo has a player option so doubt he’ll be available. So does Donte…I really wish we could’ve figured out a way to get him.
I think Thybulle could be a great get, but he’s restricted so we’ll see if Portland wants him.
Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
Oladipo suffered a serious injury and is probably out for the year.
Montrezl also seems to have fallen off a cliff. He couldn’t get minutes this season for a team that could have used a productive backup C.

Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
If we bring back Bazley, Landale, Okogie, Craig, and Biyombo, that puts us at 14 players (including Camara). So that only leaves one roster spot, and then the two-way slots.
Basically our team is already set. I'm not saying the Suns won't try to add another veteran free agent or two, but once you pull the trigger on a Beal trade and won't trade Ayton, you're basically saying you don't need depth and you're satisfied with the team you have.
Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
Feel like you could make Camara a 2-way pretty easily. Wish we could make Todd a 2-way. We’ll see if they do re-sign all of those guys.
Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
That's true, but I think it's unlikely they bring back 100% of those guys. And we may see some of them on two-way contracts. I think we still have room to add 2-3 new guys.INFORMER wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 12:24 pmIf we bring back Bazley, Landale, Okogie, Craig, and Biyombo, that puts us at 14 players (including Camara). Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
We need a fill in active defender with size that isn't totally clueless on offense and someone that can competently lead the bench unit on point. If we can find those, even w/DA (likely riding the bench if he plays true to form, ie I see decreasing minutes as the season goes on under Vogel if he stays as placid as he has been...,) we're going to need the big body even more. Cam isn't the answer at point either. MAYBE Schroeder? I really would love to snag someone like Dinwiddie when he came up out of the G League a few years back.

2. Beal
3. Booker
4. Ayton
5. Payne
6. Camara
7. Goodwin
8. Todd
9. Landale

11. Okogie
12. Bazley
I doubt we bring back Wainright and Biyombo is questionable. Camara could be a 2-way. So we have room for 2-4 FA and/or TPE players. We could also sign-and-trade some of our own free agents.

Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
Bench still sucks and the 5th starter is gonna be below average. Meh.
Love, Hurts.
Re: 2023 Free Agency Thread
Our 5th starter could be the same player we had 13 months ago.
With massive upgrades at the other two spots from Bridges and Paul.
