What would Philly do with Ayton?! Morey is a 3-ball guy and wants to stretch the floor all over the court. I don't think he would be the one to champion a return of the Twin Towers.Superbone wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:23 pmOr it could be one-sided. Maybe Philly proposed the Harris for Ayton swap and we hung up the phone.Split T wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:11 amIt’s probably not garbage..just the teams had a very superficial conversation that went nowhere and someone further down the front office hierarchy leaked it.
Like I doubt we had zero conversation at all about Harris. I’m sure we talked. It’s possible it was in a potential Chris Paul trade though and is old news.

Re: All Things Ayton
Yeah, Harris is a good player; he is just massively overpaid. I would welcome him on our team, but as you allude to, he doesn't address any of our needs. Moreover, if his dad/agent hates how he is used in Philly, it's just going to be worse for him here. How many shots is he going to get after Booker, Beal, and Durant get theirs?Split T wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:07 amI kinda like Harris…but only way to get him is basically in a 1 for 1 trade with Ayton and that does nothing for our depth. He’s a big wing though that can shoot and is pretty low usage(which we need). But he’s also capable of doing things with the ball if you need him to step up. He’s also pretty dependable and plays most games.
I think if you could get Melton in the deal(for Payne), that’s enough for me to pull the trigger. Otherwise I’d look elsewhere for depth.
Gambo also said it was not real and we’re not interested.
Re: All Things Ayton
It's Beal-Booker-Durant. That's what we're banking on. Shawn Marion isn't walking through the door.Split T wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:20 amWe better have a good free agency plan. I predict a lot of frustration during the first week or so of free agency. We can only sign vet min guys and those guys will most likely wait to see if they get a bigger offer first. We’d just be re-signing our own guys for the first little bit.

Hater!Superbone wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 8:38 amI just don't think his skillset, finesse offense, is what this current team needs. Our offensive fire power is fierce. We need a defensive center that protects the rim and is an aggressive rebounder. A Looney type. And we need depth which trading him may provide.

If he got traded today, I'd wish him the best and probably never say a negative thing about him again. But when you play for the team I root for and you have a big salary, low motor, inconsistent play, lack aggression, and are generally soft, that tends to get under my skin.

Stein says we were close on a Mavs deal on draft night…gotta say the return was pretty weak.

This is the Ayton therapy thread, thats why its 87 pages.
Almost 300 games of Ayton can really wear on a persons psyche.

Re: All Things Ayton
Yep, so close! He was nearly traded! But the holdup was we didn’t want McGee coming back. Lol, what a Mavs homer Stein is.

If we really wanted Ayton gone, we wouldn’t let the McGee part get in the way.

Re: All Things Ayton
How does saying McGee was the holdup make Stein a Mavs homer?
And I don't think anyone wants Ayton gone no matter what it takes (or no matter what we receive).
Re: All Things Ayton
He tries to make it seem like talks were “serious” and “advanced” when they weren’t. The Mavs offered us garbage and we rejected it. Just like Gambo reported last week.INFORMER wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 8:25 amHow does saying McGee was the holdup make Stein a Mavs homer?
