He tries to make it seem like talks were “serious” and “advanced” when they weren’t. The Mavs offered us garbage and we rejected it. Just like Gambo reported last week.
It feels like the same thing is being reported, just one report has an "Ayton is awesome!" slant.

Nope, just one has a Mavs homer slant.

If he was being a homer, I don't think he would be reporting that the Suns rejected the offer.

I thought Stein's been a fan of ours in recent years.

He started in Dallas before going National…or was at least based in Dallas.

Vogel seems to be contradicting himself a bit in regards to wanting Ayton

No he isn't. Clearly the only reason why Ayton wasn't playing hard and physical is because of Monty. Monty is gone, so everything is fine now.

"We have to be a team that plays more physical and harder than our opponents every night. And if we build that habit, we're going to have great success in the playoffs."
I love that. I hope we can do that.
"I've seen Deandre play with extreme effort. I've seen him play at a near-All-Star level. ... I know it's there. ... We're at a point right now with a fresh start where I feel like he's going to have a great season for us."
Fingers crossed.
"You definitely can reach all players. Players have to be inspired. They have to feel good about their role & they have to feel good about coming to work every day. If you create that situation for a player, the effort & motor piece comes naturally."
He's talking to you, Ayton. Let's do this!
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Ya sounds like he is talking directly to Ayton. Let’s hope he’s listening

Sorry, I can't get excited right now about a $30mil/year #1 pick who needs his hand held to play hard every game. And no matter how hard he thinks or says he's playing, he still been outworked by lesser talents even when Monty and his teammates were propping him up with motivational talks. He still won't move guys in the paint and go up strong to dunk the ball. Playing physical isn't part of DA's mentality from everything I've seen.

Nobody is saying he shouldn't give full effort no matter the situation. But it's very natural to not give full effort when your coach doesn't believe in you and doesn't even want you on the team.

10th man?! Try 5th man...

I also love how we're acting like teams haven't won with Kevon Looney, Dwight Howard's corpse, and Tristan Thompson.

Ain't this the truth. At some point, it doesn't matter if the chicken or the egg came first.

Still think there is a good chance that Ayton will be a lot better under Vogel, but only a chance.

I think he’ll most likely be better…just more 2022 than 2023. Still the same consistency and motor problems, just hopefully he’ll be on more than off.
