Be fearful when others are greedy, when others are greedy, prices typically boil over, and one should be cautious lest they overpay for an asset that subsequently leads to anemic returns.

And greedy when others are fearful. When others are fearful, it may present a good value investment opportunity.

Walk softly means be cautious. Carry a big stick means kick ass when the time comes.

Edit: When others are being greedy is him talking about people overpaying for a stock and then the stock falls at some point apparently because they were greedy. Somehow they are supposed to know when they are being greedy and not just buying a stock they think will go up. I call ass on that comment. If people knew when a stock would fall beforehand they would never lose money in the stock market.

It came from Warren Buffet and it basically means when everybody else is fearful and selling, it’s a good time to buy when the values are lower. And then when the market is rising and everybody is buying, maybe slow down and sit out for a bit. Makes perfect sense to me. There’s no predicting the future involved.

You have to decide if this is that time to buy aapl while it had a loser week or is it the start of a bigger sell off or maybe the start of a recession? Looking at a chart for the week makes it look like Apple is going under any minute. Pull back the last six months or six years and you see it going up and down with a general uptick for the past decade +. Buy or sell?

That’s a good saying by Buffet and a good saying by Teddy. They are both pretty vague.
