Love the movie. I'll have to check it out.

They have removed all trace of Gilliam & also no actors the lvl of Willis or Pitt but I'm a sucker for time travel narratives. I can't recall an entire show based around something like this unless you consider Quantum Leap time travel (or the recent Outlander which is crap unless you're a bored housewife.)

No actors on the level of Bruce Willis? hahaha...that was funny. Don't get me wrong...John McClane is my favorite action hero of all time, but Bruce Willis is not a good actor.

Disagree. He has been mailing it in for years but there are some great Willis performances out there and he has charisma very few in Hollywood can match. Just my 2c.

He plays one role, with various levels of swagger. That's about it. Dark, introspective, quiet, until pushed to the brink, in which case, he unleashes hell. That is every Bruce Willis role ever.

I don't think Willis is the most versatile actor, but he's improved at his craft over the years and has been in several good movies. Die Hard, Sixth Sense, Fifth Element, Pulp Fiction, Twelve Monkeys (what is it with him and "number" movies?), Sin City, Looper, Unbreakable... He's just been in a lot of films I liked, so I have to give him credit for that.

There are plenty of actors out there who's range only extends to playing versions of themselves. Paul Rudd? Robert Downey Jr.? Can't complain about Bruce Willis doing the same thing.

Agreed...I'm not saying he's a terrible actor. He plays Mr. McClane EXTREMELY well, and most of the time, that's all he needs. I thought Sixth Sense was pretty overrated, but he wasn't bad there. He just needed to blow more things up. Die Hard and The Fifth Element are great because he fits the role so perfectly...must have a good agent.

By the way, I will take this moment to out myself as a closet fan of Hudson Hawk. We're all allowed a few guilty pleasures...don't judge.

Can't say that about Steve Carell!

Or Tom Hanks. Money pit, Cast Away, Forest Gump, etc.

I was pretty wary about this one...this used to be one of my favorite books. Philip K. Dick is certainly my favorite author (or at least up there in the top three, who I can't really choose between). But so many of his stories and books translate very poorly to the screen...Blade Runner being the only one that I think made a solid movie, and that was radically changed from the novel. And you may or may not recall that I was extremely disappointed in The Minority Report. (Total Recall and Screamers don't count, having been made from real sci fi into action movies set in a fictional universe, with only a few plot points in common with the originals. And we don't need to talk about that Ben Affleck atrocity.)

So...when I heard about TMITHC becoming a show on Amazon Prime, I was nervous. However, after the premiere, I am super stoked for the show. No spoilers, but here's the general premise:

Alternate history...Hitler won, and the Axis divided up the continent between them. The Japanese rule the Pacific side, and the Germans rule the east. There's also a "neutral zone" (although it's anything but neutral, more just that it has held up some resistance) in the middle. Hitler is dying, and the Pacific side is worried that after he goes, his 2nd in command will turn on the Japanese and wipe out the Pacific seaboard. But the focus of the story is...well, I'll let you figure that out.

Let's just say there is no such thing as a Philip K. Dick historic fiction unless it has a pretty huge twist, and there's a reason he's one of the best science fiction writers of all time.
Just watched this on my trip this week. Really enjoyed it and let Amazon know.

Do they get better Dan? 10 years ago I went through and read everything he wrote from the beginning (I have a bad habit of picking up an author and reading everything they wrote in order until I run out stuff, then find a new author.) It was ~10 novels by then and I felt they really went down hill with each one. I still think Black Echo was the best story, and Concrete Blonde was best written. Did he actually start to tell any new stories, or become a better story teller after the first 10 novels?

I love plenty of movies he was in, but yeah, he isn't a good actor. You always see him in the role more clearly than his character.

The last few have been excellent. Bosch's world has kind of expanded, he has a brother and a daughter now, so it tempers his personality a bit.

Interesting. I wasn't too put off by his world or his personality. I just felt like it was basically the same story being told every time. Glad to know it gets better. Is he still writing them, or it is ghost writers the way Tom Clancy did it?

I watch Flip or Flop on HGTV and Flipping San Diego on A&E and FYI channel.

I like these shows on taking foreclosured homes or auctioned houses and watch the transformation from an outdated home to a beautiful home.

That will give you a totally realistic and not at all over-produced concept of the market. :)

The dude in Flip or Flop is such a wuss. It drives me crazy he walks around job sites in flip flops. Wife is cute, though.
