The way I see it, Portland wants to move Nurkic but Miami has zero interest. We also have no interest in an Ayton for Nurkic swap straight up(it also doesn’t work salary wise). So Portland trades Dame for Miami’s package and then adds some of that to Nurkic to get Ayton.

That's exactly what I was trying to say but it was 5:00am and the coffee hadn't hit yet.

Talk of Ayton for Nurkic is the only thing that lines up in this context. I'd assume there'd be some substantial other stuff coming the Suns way at this point if it were to happen since it's pretty clear Ishbia isn't pinching pennies for at least this season and other teams need an Ayton deal "to be the first domino".
That's the opposite of what the (fake) rumor said. It said Ayton would be "the domino effect."
OK, I got the wording wrong. Whatever.

The point is that person is saying they're waiting for some kind of Ayton deal to manifest before or be in step with whatever happens with Dame.
Ayton being the "domino effect" would mean that an Ayton deal comes after other deals, not other teams waiting for an Ayton deal.

You all are funny. I guess there’s nothing else to talk about but you all know a Ayton for Nurkic and filler ain’t happening.

It probably isn’t happening, but the guy on Twitter who said it is has been pretty accurate this summer. He did miss on the Harden stuff though.

He did call Bruce Brown to Indy
FVV and Brooks to Houston among other things

I’ve read elsewhere that the source has a habit of deactivating his account shortly after posting, and that he does this to avoid bans. What’s the deal with that? Why does he need such tactics to avoid banning?

He believes that Adam Silver gives a s*** about his tweets and existence, and that if he’s not careful, the NBA Deep State™️ will come after him.

This is nonsense. We are talking about an anonymous account that may or may not have any reliable or unreliable sources of non-publicly available information.

The Ayton rumor is garbage. I can't wait until training camp starts in two weeks and we can finally put to rest all of this insanity.

I'd love to save 16m on a different starting C, but Nurkic ain't it.

That trade, straight up, makes no sense. I'd argue it makes very little sense regardless of what's added (within reason).

Defense from the C position could very well be what determines if we win a chip or not. Trading for one of the worst defensive centers in the league would be asinine.

Nurkic and Ayton have been pretty much equal from a defensive metric standpoint the last two years.

That's not to say I want to make a straight swap. Just that Nurkic might not be as poor of a defender as some people think.

Not interested unless Simons is attached

Makes no sense to downgrade DA without something else coming in as an upgrade as he’s our last tradeable asset

It’s not even possible for it to be a straight swap…something else would have to come. Nurk is being mentioned because that’s the position for position swap, but I feel like we’d be making the move for the other stuff. Nurkic doesn’t have positive value. He’s a mediocre big who is oft injured and on a bad contract. Flipping Nurkic for Ayton is doing Portland a huge favor, they have to sweeten the pot.

Nurkic is not even close to as good as Ayton. I would not like that deal, even if they sweeten it by adding 1-2 more players.

Trading Ayton only makes sense if the Suns get a rebounding, rim running, defensive big plus a 3 and D wing starter in return. Nobody is going to offer that for Ayton. The "Domino" rumor is nonsense, but hey, at least we have something new to talk about (for the one hundredth time).

I think it depends on what Ayton we get. The Ayton that showed up in the playoffs was dreadful and does nothing for us. We’d be better off starting Eubanks. But if 2021 Playoffs Ayton or 2022 Vs Pels Ayton shows up, that’s a different story.

For me, if we can get a player we know can be a strong rotation guy that could be part of our closing 5, I pull the trigger. I just don’t know what Ayton we get, so I’d take a drop in ceiling for a more consistent player.

Also, we’re obviously going to be looking to run. Nurkic can’t do that. At the price he’s being paid, I’d rather have two Eubankses than Nurkic.

Now, if it’s Jerami Grant and filler for Ayton?

Grant can’t be traded till halfway through the season.

I also am not even sure Nurkic would start if he came here. I might just start Eubanks. The trade wouldn’t be about Nurkic at all for me

I think Ayton will be much improved over last year. We all know there was some weirdness going on between him and Williams. Started from the get go last year in training camp. I think we're going to see a newly motivated Ayton under the center whisperer, Vogel. We all wish he was self-motivating but he is what he is which is pretty dang good when motivated. Hopefully he buys into Vogel's defensive schemes as I think his defense and rebounding will be more important to us than his offense. But as Shaq (and Jeremy :P) say, gotta feed the big man to keep him involved.

Oliver Miller used to say that too.
