POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
I really just don’t see it…you think there’s a world where Ayton is better than what Booker is right now? What Nash was for us? What Barkley did?
I feel like his ceiling was Marion if he bought in and played his role for 9-10 years.

Everyone else’s fault…. Great narrative to fall back on. He’ll never amount to squat until he owns it and becomes a man n his own instead of blaming everyone else.JeremyG wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 8:46 amLol, you’re misreading that. In the sense that I was a Jordan fan, yes.
Ayton could have been the best thing that ever happened to the Suns, if they hadn’t screwed it up.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
Right… he can’t even make an all star game. Nobody’s is picking big softy. Good riddance to him.

The context was that “I want what’s best for the Suns.” I meant he could have been the piece to put us over the top.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
I didn’t say best Suns player ever, but with the right development from the start who knows.

Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
I just think if I’ve got a bunch of water cups trying to fill a big bucket of water and 95% of the bucket is filled up by 3 cups of water, the cup that finally fills it over the top isn’t what I’d call the best thing that happened. That Booker cup that filled half the bottle first is the better thing.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
I believe you. But if you spend all of next season trashing Nurkic every time he sneezes and pointing to Ayton's stats and such, even if the Suns are having a strong season, I'm going to point you to this post and ask for some clarifications.

Doesn't matter which way you explain it... but A+ for effortSplit T wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 10:05 amI just think if I’ve got a bunch of water cups trying to fill a big bucket of water and 95% of the bucket is filled up by 3 cups of water, the cup that finally fills it over the top isn’t what I’d call the best thing that happened. Just let me get through the five stages dude.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
Lol, don’t worry, I don’t have the energy to hate on one player that much. I won’t be trashing Nurkic even one tenth of the trashing that y’all did to Ayton.

Yeah, low blow on the part of the Suns organization.

I’m thinking it’s not at this point, still tested negative and I’m starting to feel a little bit better (physically at least…

Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
I’m here for the Jeremy post trade grief thread. It’s ok not to be ok man. It took me a minute to recover from the Marjele for Hot Rod Williams trade. And the Marion Shaq Trade.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
That Marion Shaq deal still makes me sad. Matrix should've retired as a Suns lifer.
Love, Hurts.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
Yea…. Shaq was such a waste at that point in his career. Would have been better to ride out the matrix. At least he could defend 1-5.
I went to a Shaq game when he was here…. He damn near killed a fan diving into the stands for a ball.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
That Marion/Shaq trade was such a huge mistake in retrospect. I still have nightmares of the Spurs destroying Shaq on the pick-and-roll. I’m happy Marion found success outside of Phoenix by winning a title, but it would have truly been something special to witness him accomplish it here.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
You just triggered my Hack-A-Shaq PTSD.
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
You and me both lol. I get flashbacks of those days whenever the Shaq/Marion trade becomes a topic of discussion. Just not a time in our team’s history that I like to revisit.

I’ll admit I was halfway in favor of the Shaq trade—just because we had never had a great center and I was hoping with our medical staff he could still be somewhat dominant. But I loved Marion, can’t wait for his well-deserved ROH induction!
Re: POLL: Ayton/Nurkic trade
This one could end up very similar to both of those trades: getting an older, injury-prone center who is in decline—while never knowing what could have been if we stuck with the player we drafted.Drewsprocket wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 5:22 pmI’m here for the Jeremy post trade grief thread.
