Around the League: Week 1 (10/23 - 10/29)
Re: Around the League: Week 1 (10/23 - 10/29)
Mavs got Josh Green on a good deal: 3/$41M.
Re: Around the League: Week 1 (10/23 - 10/29)
JFC those numbers are insane. 3 years 186 Mil. I know the market says he's worth that but imo nothing a human being does is worth that kind of money. Sheesh.

He’s probably worth more

Bucks did what they had to this summer to keep him engaged. They got Dame, a guy he wanted to play with. That Bucks team was stale and needed a big move. Now they have Giannis re-committed.

He hasn't really even gone halfway Mikal on the offensive side. I'm not convinced they couldn't have two guys for his total salary that provide the same thing if not more flexibility.Split T wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 3:27 pmI don’t know…I still think you guys are evaluating this on past numbers…it’s an absolute steal if he goes full Mikal. He’s getting 27 million a year…not 40 million. It’s an overpay if he just stays the same player, but if he makes some improvements, he’s already a great, versatile wing defender, with good size who shoots near 40% from 3.
He’s basically getting the deal Mikal signed with us(with a slight bump after a couple years of inflation).
I'm not completely off of the deal, it's just a bit risky with the pecking order of their roster and the lack of on ball skills he's shown so far.

Brandon Knight? You can just call him BASE if you don’t want to name him.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 2:24 pmIt’s not nearly as bad as the deal he who shall not be named received from us.![]()

They are paying for that one play when he and Ant completely shut down Kyrie and Luka for 20 seconds.

Mikal was a bit better after year 3, but I think it’s close. Mikal was 13/4/2 and Jaden is 12/4/2. Mikal a bit more efficient too. I think we got Mikal on a steal though.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 4:35 pmHe hasn't really even gone halfway Mikal on the offensive side. We’ll see how McDaniels looks this year…that’ll really determine if the price was right.

I really liked Bey coming out of college, a swing 3/4 with a good outside shot, played at Villanova. He was up and down in Detroit and then got traded to Atlanta where he might be the starter now. Williams has been inconsistent too after coming out of college with a lot of hype and supposedly wanted $25m a year.
Toppin was a fan favorite in NY but was limited playing behind Randle and asked out. This will be a big year for him to prove himself and I'm still not sure how good he really is; he's a tweener at the 4/5 (like Stix) but is a great athlete in the open court and has become a solid 3pt shooter from the corner. Not sure that will be enough to be a longterm starter and help a team. Indy tried Stix at the 4 next to Turner, they're trying Obi now and drafted Jarace Walker. They just can't seem to figure out that frontcourt.
Quickley's kind of in the same boat in NY playing behind Brunson now but was 2nd in 6MOY and is a legit rotation player and possible starter. He's either a fan favorite or fans don't think he's a winning player worth more than $80mil. It's assumed he wanted $100+, no one really knows what NY was offering but they obviously couldn't come to a deal. Might be used as trade bait, might test the market next summer...it'll be interesting to see how this one plays out.

My unoriginal hot take is that the Knicks will try to sign and trade Quickley to the Cavs for Mitchell.

The NBA regular season starts off perfectly so far, with a Lakers LOSS. Fuck the Lakers!!!
