This was my favorite stretch of the game besides the finish. Nurkic's 3-pointer followed by a perfect no look pass on the short roll, then putting dribble pressure on the defense after getting the rebound. That last part prevented the Warriors from setting their defense and of course Nurkic sees Booker mismatched in the post, throws a lobbed skip pass into him, and he cooks Corey Joseph.

I didn't realize Allen was that bad until going through a replay. This game has to be one of the worst of his entire career to this point.

Sloppy game and giving up a 40pt 3rd qtr can't happen but I'll chalk the TOs and 3rd qtr up to it being the 1st game. Preseason is preseason but we just looked a lot smoother in those games. The spacing wasn't great last night, didn't seem like KD or Book had room to operate and Allen and Gordon both couldn't provide or didn't have the spacing they're used to. Same with Yuta. I sincerely hope KD hasn't taken a step back but it doesn't seem like he's been KD of old since he's gotten to Phoenix. With Book and KD and the other roleplayers, we shouldn't have had that much trouble with the Ws. We shouldn't have that much trouble with most teams with just two of our three stars.

Okogie and Nurk were just what we needed with their defense and energy. Nurk finished well around the basket and got some and-1s, same with Okogie who was cutting well off the ball. Nurk was also solid defensively but Looney and Saric were favorable matchups there. Can't imagine we'll have too many 4-20 games from Allen and EG combined. Not sure what was up with Allen last night. Interestingly no minutes for KBD or Metu and Little only got 2-3 minutes.

You said it already, there wasn’t much room to operate. Refs also let GSW play super handsy. Lots of slapping at the ball, pushing, and body checking.

Okogie was a badass. He seems to be cementing his spot as the fifth starter with his play. Good for him.

Nurkic 14 pts, 14 reb, 3 ast
Booker 32 pts, 6 reb, 8 ast.
Durant 18 pts, 10 reb, 3 ast
Okogie going to play himself into a nice contract.

Pretty lucky to get a W despite a pretty bad game from all three of KD, Gordon, and Allen. Allen in particular was just dreadful, and EG was bricking shot after shot until crunch time. I think we'll do better as our guys get more comfortable playing together.

Relax guys. He’s human. First time back in the bay for him. Sometimes the emotions hit the wrong way.
We didn’t trade Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, four picks and three swaps for a 35-year-old human. He has to be superhuman to keep us from pining over what we gave up.

It's just one game. But it was troubling to see KD struggle so mightily. I do worry about his offseason regimen and whether he really takes care of his body. He's so wiry thin and doesn't look like he really puts in time in the gym in the summer. Oh well, it is what it is.

He looked like he was playing for the Washington Generals last night.

He doesn't lift weights.

I have a feeling now that Ayton is gone, KD is going to be the target of any discontent.

He was a fair target last night.

I don’t ever remember watching him and thinking he’s so easy to strip the ball from when he played on opposing teams. Just seems like he’s either a step slow or so sloppy, and all his shots were ridiculous fadeaways off balance.

It’s just one game, but to be honest he’s been a disappointment since he came over.

I’m not going to jump to any conclusions until we’re halfway through the year and we’ll see where he’s at

Turns out I'm a liar. He's lifting weights in that post-win workout. I read somewhere awhile ago that he doesn't lift weights because he's afraid it'll affect his shot. Don't listen to me.

Early on he was giving great energy on the offensive end back tapping and leading to extra possessions, but after the odd foul on the perimeter on Curry (I think?), and a few missed shots, he just started making mistake after mistake. Curry getting the offensive board and losing him on the putback in the second half was disappointing. If he’s going to be in that 6-7th man spot, can’t have him disappear like this.

You know who played well, albeit in limited action? Nas Little. In 2 minutes he shot from deep with confidence, played the passing lanes well. I hope we see more of him.

Very strange that KBD couldn’t find the court tonight. Maybe it was matchup dependent. Could be more useful against LAL’s larger wings.
