He should have been taken out half way through the 3rd.

I disagree. They were up 29. Let the bench earn their pay.

It almost looks like Al is 90 or something.

He still only played 29 minutes. I can see taking him out a little earlier…say with 2-3 minutes left in the 3rd, but no coach pulls the plug halfway through the 3rd.Superbone wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 10:06 pmI disagree. They were up 29. Let the bench earn their pay.
We’d all be calling for Vogel’s head if he took KD out 6 minutes into the 3rd and then Utah went on like a 21-4 run to close the quarter. Now we’re only up 12 and we’re gonna have to bring KD back in and we lost the momentum. You have to finish them.

The bench reaction leads me to believe Yuta is quite the locker room presence.

What was cool about this performance was the occasion
The team obviously were glad to have their home opener but I'm sure they understood that with the Suns VIPs in house it was imperative to play some good basketball
Well done fellas

Really great bounce back win especially for our home opener. I was worried about us being shorthanded against the Jazz and matching up with their frontcourt but neither of those things were issues. All of our roleplayers showed up and Collins and Kessler were ineffective. On top of that the Jazz don't have much talent at the 1-3 right now.
Everything seemed to click for the team. Goodwn, Okogie, Allen, EG all had it going to help KD on both sides of the ball. 2way players are hard to come by and we have Goodwin, Okogie and Allen who are 3 very good ones. Goodwin's not a true PG but he's good enough for now and is getting more comfortable finding his offense. Getting him in the trade was a steal and he looks like he can be part of the core going forward. He and Okogie are menaces on defense and Okogie's been finishing really well around the basket.
Allen finally found his game getting to the basket and the flagrant seemed to wake him up and get him going. He looked like he had his legs under him and was noticeably impactful. Little is taking the other swing minutes and is fine, switchable on defense and gets out well in transition. If his 3 starts falling, he'll be just another weapon for us. EG really helped build the lead in the 1st half and ended 9-14 with three 3s. Yuta gave good minutes too again, and is a really solid defender even if he's overmatched physically at times. He's just always playing hard and I think he'll see more shot opportunities when Book and Beal are out there because defenses can stay out on him now and even tho he's OK off the dribble, it's not his strength. Vogel's settled on Yuta, Little, Goodwin and Eubanks off the bench for a 9man rotation with EG and Allen starting, it'll be interesting to see whose minutes get cut since we need to find 30+ each for Book and Beal when they're back.
Both Nurk and Eubanks were pretty much interchangeable last night, especially on offense. Both just have great awareness and passing ability, we're legitimately running offense thru them and even seemed to be playing thru Nurk a lot in the high and low post with the first unit. Both finished well in the paint and even with their hook shots, they're physical and creating contact towards the basket. Just a different level of play coming from the center spot.
Vogel mentioned it but the spacing was a ton better than it was against the Lakers. There was also much more ball movement and playing fast really benefits us with the roleplayers. Getting those easy baskets in transition keeps us out of the halfcourt and reliant on KD to create and score. We can slow it down when the Big 3 are out there for obvious reasons but the quicker we score with guys like Goodwin, Okogie, EG, Little, Yuta and Allen the better.

I really like Eubanks so far. He seems to combine most of the strengths of Landale and Biyombo from last year: works hard, bouncy and athletic, savvy, good defender, has a few offensive moves, attacks the rim, just a smart player.

I was watching both the Dbacks and Suns at the same time. Great win for the Dbacks! This week is going to be tough with a few Suns games and the WS too since all the Suns games start at 10pm for me and I have to work early. It was hard to tell at times if the Suns were really good or the Jazz are really bad. Since I don't follow other teams much I'm hoping it is the former. So many players stepped up. Allen was probably most impressive to me. I love Yuta and am glad he is doing good. I was excited when we got Bol but he is a turnover machine and won't be sad when he is gone.
DA who?

I believe Azibuike will eventually take Bols roster spot and Bol will get sent packing.

Didn’t get to watch the game last night, but good to see we got back on track!

That wouldn’t surprise me…or we just cut him if we use our TPE to bring someone in midseason.
