All Things Ayton
Re: All Things Ayton
They obviously told him they want to tank and that he shouldn’t try too hard to win.

He will have all the time in the world to get better at nba2k

We’re never moving on are we…
Re: All Things Ayton
Break ups are always hard. It’s going to take some time. But Ayton’s making it a lot easier so I appreciate that.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I don’t think it’s hard…it’s just fun to gloat…I’m excited for the day Deandre plays a game and it’s not mentioned

Gonna be hard to hit 25 ppg with one combined 3 and FT every 3 games.

Re: All Things Ayton
Honestly it’s more about the crazy talk here than anything, if there wasn’t talk about him being a legit #1 or #2 on a winning team and coaches and teammates holding him back and yadda yadda, he’d be a huge afterthought.
Re: All Things Ayton
There was a massive gulf between what most thought of Ayton and how he was viewed by a few select fans of his. We’ve had years and years of debates about it, so I get that everyone is gonna pop up and gloat when it looks like they are right.
Ayton struggling doesn’t surprise me, but I also don’t need him to struggle to feel good about moving on. It was the right move. And short of him turning into a 25/15 monster who is a perennial DPOY candidate, I’m going to continue to believe it was the right move.

The way his performance is trending, even the people who were upset with the perceived low trade return will also be proven wrong.

On a max contract.

He was an actual #2 on the winningest team in franchise history—despite a coach who was holding him back.

Re: All Things Ayton
I'd agree that Ayton has spent more of his career so far than most of us would care to reminisce about, playing like actual #2.JeremyG wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 9:40 pmIt’s so easy to ignore facts.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 9:05 pmHonestly it’s more about the crazy talk here than anything, if there wasn’t talk about him being a legit #1 or #2 on a winning team and coaches and teammates holding him back and yadda yadda, he’d be a huge afterthought.

2nd in scoring does not mean second option.

Re: All Things Ayton
Common sense should lead someone to realizing he wasn't the second option on that team when he didn't make the All-Star game nor receive a single vote for any season awards.
Edit: He received 1 All-Defensive team vote. My bad.

Re: All Things Ayton
The fact that he was second in scoring despite being the 4th best Sun means that, I don’t know, maybe Monty wasn’t holding him back.

Re: All Things Ayton
Clearly Chauncey is holding him back now. He'd be the 25/15 monster if Chauncey would just let him play.......
You can't sit there at your introductory press conference, proclaim that you are 'Dominayton', average 8.3 PPG in your first 3 games and expect to be taken seriously in your 6th year in the league. The guy will be a journeyman for the rest of his career.
