All Things Ayton
Re: All Things Ayton
Oh I have a lot of receipts to use, too.
I'm just waiting for that inevitable day when all the sudden everyone agrees with me that we should have kept Ayton. Just like how all the sudden everyone agreed we should fire Monty.

You mean like when Mr Max was benched in the playoffs for a minimum level player because he sucked THAT BADJeremyG wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 10:50 amAnd here I was trying to have a serious conversation.Split T wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 10:28 amAyton was not a reliable rotation guy.JeremyG wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 9:25 amIf Grayson is the best player from the trade, then it's a complete disaster. It's only going to become clearer and clearer that we needed a center and defensive anchor. We didn't need another shooter.Split T wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 11:38 pmWell I’m not telling him to leave the board haha. I’ve just never seen someone be so attached to one player before.
His Yousuck Nurkic stuff rubs me the wrong way as well and I lashed out a bit. I don’t even think Nurk is that good…his season is going about how I expected. Especially this game where we benched him down the stretch. I expect us to do that a lot. He won’t always make sense out there. But that was the beauty of trading 3 for 1…I think it seems clear Grayson Allen will be the best player for us from that trade. I think Nurkic can give us 20 minutes and Little is a nice developmental piece(I know he’s not that young, but he’s on a friendly deal over the next 4 years and is young enough).

Be honest--is that how the Suns talked about their "upgrade" at center when they made the trade? Is that really what the front office or team or majority of the fanbase "expected"? To have to bench the starting center they traded for "a lot" of the time? What happened to "better fit"?
Again, thanks for letting me know you're not serious.

Again you’re talking about a MAX LEVEL contract scoring ELEVEN!!! Ppg. What happened to “hell be the leading scorer 25ppg” lmao
Re: All Things Ayton
Even if Ayton goes on to be an all star he wasn’t going to do it here. He burned too many bridges with his previous employer. Both needed a change.

Re: All Things Ayton
it's literally the same argument rinse and repeat... we have bigger fish to fry with this team than contemplAyton our previous player. We're all a little salty given our disappointing start and rightfully so. Either this team gets out of this slump or Ishbia does a lexipro giveaway to help us deal with this rough start.
Re: All Things Ayton
They're getting there. Still working him into the offense. Shooting 60.4% (better than last season with CP3). But scoring isn't what we needed. We needed exactly what he's been doing--league-leading rebounding and near DPOY-level defensive anchor.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 2:50 pmAgain you’re talking about a MAX LEVEL contract scoring ELEVEN!!! You said he’d be the number one option and lead the team in scoring.
You don’t work your #1 option into the offense. You work everyone else around them.
He’s an afterthought.
Re: All Things Ayton
Good on Ayton for putting up some gaudy defensive stats so far this season. But if you pay a max salary for a defensive center, you end up with a Gobert on a max deal and you eventually desperately want out. Ask the Jazz, or the Suns. An elite defensive center is a really nice thing to have, but if you expend a max-salary slot on that asset, it's really hard to build a title-contending team.
Re: All Things Ayton
LOL. Come on. You know he's not Gobert on offense.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 7:38 pmGood on Ayton for putting up some gaudy defensive stats so far this season. Re: All Things Ayton
Gobert is averaging more ppg so far this season, though admittedly on a lower FG%, and admittedly Ayton's career ppg is higher. My point is not that they are exactly the same offensively, more that you would never build an NBA offense around either man, and that neither man is worth a max contract. Gobert was a multiple-time DPOY and made a real impact for the Jazz, but nevertheless maxing him out was not a great strategy for them to build a title contender.JeremyG wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 7:42 pmLOL. He looks asleep against Memphis.
Re: All Things Ayton
Typical Ayton.
2 points, 5 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 blocks, 2 fouls through the third quarter.
The only thing consistent about Ayton is his inconsistency.

^ Fake stats. Lol.
Ayton has been incredible tonight. DPOY-level performance. Very active and high intensity tonight. He's only gotten himself open 35 times on offense tonight also--teammates just ignoring him.

Re: All Things Ayton
Biyombo has more points, rebounds, assists, and blocks in fewer minutes
