All Things Ayton
Re: All Things Ayton
Yea it was a salary dispute. Iron Man was a huge hit and he wanted more money than they were willing to pay. He was like, "Pay me X amount because I'm really important and I'm entitled to it", and Marvel was like, "hey, we really like you but you're kind of a supporting actor and not really carrying the franchise like Robert Downey Jr. so we'll give you a nice raise but won't meet your asking price. But look at the bright side, you'll still be a big part of a hugely popular and successful franchise for the next 15 years".
Instead, he left Marvel and did a TV show that had some success but wasn't the mainstream cultural phenomenon that the MCU was and he's kind of been floundering around ever since. Marvel moved on and replaced him with Cheadle, who came cheaper and was a better fit for the role and with the rest of the cast.

I promise I'm not posting this to be a dick, it's just funny and I'd put it in the League discussion if it were someone else.

Re: All Things Ayton
In fairness this type of play would fit in perfectly with our current 4th quarter play.

Ayton letting that ball fall out of bounds is Monty's fault! #FireMonty

I watched a bunch of that game. What's striking me about him is how absolutely allergic to contact he is. Even more than when he played for us. Watch his screens (and compare them to Nurk/Eubanks). He almost never lays a body on the defender. He slips them all. It's like he's afraid of getting sweat on him. For a starting center to play 32 mpg over 9 games and shoot 3 free throws - an average of 1 free throw every 3 games/96 minutes - is downright embarrassing.
Re: All Things Ayton
This would probably be a good time to remind everyone again that Ayton had the best clutch-time FG% and most made clutch-time free throws on the Suns last season.

Re: All Things Ayton
Not really sure how that’s relevant….
He is on pace to have the lowest free throw rate for anyone that took at least 9 shots a game. Currently Eddie House with us holds that record at .054. Ayton is at .035.
There are 4 people on pace to set that record though this year, including our very own Eric Gordon. As well as Dorian Finney-Smith and Buddy Hield…Is there a conspiracy against that Bahamas team?

Yep. If Ayton was still here, we all know we'd currently be 10-0.

Re: All Things Ayton
I’ve also noticed this a lot as well. Some of the worst non-screen screens I’ve seen.

Re: All Things Ayton
It’s because he was getting in foul trouble from being too physical early in the season. He lets things get into his head too much.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:24 pmI’ve also noticed this a lot as well. Some of the worst non-screen screens I’ve seen.

I’m surprised nobody caught the double meaning in ShelC’s post at the top of this page.

Think MCU should’ve dealt with Howard?
