We run, what Bill Simmons likes to call, the “clogged toilet offense.”

It's still too early to press the panic button but my hand is hovering over it now. We're fast running out of excuses.

That passes the smell test.

Feel like we’re a loss away from Chris Haynes reporting a players only meeting lol

If we don't get it together soon, we may go down as the most disappointing team in NBA history.

Starting to feel much like the brief terry porter era.

I miss having a smart team. At least we had a high floor then, albeit this team has a theoretical higher ceiling.
There’s a few things we could tidy up pretty easily while we are figuring things out:
- cut out the careless turnovers (value each possession in each quarter)
- rebound the ball (conscious effort to box out and be ready for the long rebounds off missed 3s - we seem to be second to react a lot to those)
- move with purpose without the ball on offense (we should be getting a bunch of lay ups on back door cuts but seem to be content standing around watching too much)
We have some bigger issues to sort but while we do that, I reckon a focus on these things could translate to an extra 5+ points per game - and wouldn’t that be handy!!

Can we trade Vogel for Monty with Detroit?

How does Monty help this team?

It's undeniable thay our offense (and defense, by the way) were better with Monty, even when we didn't have CP3.
I'm just kidding, of course, about getting him back, but I really do think our battalion of coaches are doing a subpar job so far.

True but we had very different rosters back then. I'm not convinced he gets more out of this roster defensively and, without a true PG, it's questionable he'd do a better job with the offense. A lot of his success here was down to CP3.Furlanfufi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:56 pmIt's undeniable thay our offense (and defense, by the way) were better with Monty, even when we didn't have CP3.

Haha, I know and I do agree our current coaches have underperformed thus far (particularly Young).

Even when we didn't have CP3, our offense was not standing around while someone dribbles the air out of the ball. As someone pointed, we should get a lot of easy backcuts, open 3s and transition buckets, but all we're getting is turnovers.

A frustrating loss, but not all that surprising to me. The Nets figured themselves out pretty quickly after Simmons stopped playing and the Suns are still very much in the pre-season stage of getting everyone on the same page.
Standing around and waiting for the defense to dictate the terms of the possession has to stop. It's negating most of the Suns offensive scoring advantage and it's also just dumb basketball. The second half looked a lot better, especially when Nurk was essentially running point for a stretch. They can't do that every night, but other guys have to be utilized with the ball and moving in more unpredictable sets to keep the defense honest. They have also need to get Beal involved more. I hope part of the issue is his goofy rotation that's preventing him from getting into a rhythm, but 34 minutes of being mostly invisible is not good at all.
It's not an excuse, but I thought the Suns were on the bad end of the whistle tonight. Seemed like they didn't get rewarded for attacking the rim nearly as much as the Nets, and I still have no idea why Tony Brothers called a foul on KD on what was essentially the defensive possession that sealed the game. I never saw a replay on the Suns broadcast but that was a huge error by Brothers if it was marginal contact or, even worse, he wrongly anticipated a foul by KD.

Kevin Young reverse-Keyser Soze’d the Suns.

There was something awesome about how they’d roll out everything while playing “Mony Mony” by Billy idol. Just got the crowd going and was a staple for years.

They initially had the sol patrol doing the dunks but that’s even stopped, at least to the games I’ve been to this year or seen.

Can we talk more about how good Nurk has been these last several games?
