What TV shows are you guys watching?
Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
Good to know. How many episodes?
Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
Loved Breaking Bad and was hooked from the first episode. I loved seeing Walter White in the Super Bowl commercial.
I'm looking forward to seeing "Better call Saul", but I don't have cable and will have to wait until it hits Netflix.

Started watching on Netflix when it was on the next to last season.Indy wrote:Interesting. Did you watch it when it was on, or wait until it was all over before starting?Dan H wrote:I'm stuck on the dumb fly episode of Breaking Bad. I need to finish it up.
It really is a fascinating show. Everyone in it with the exception of Hank and Walter Jr. are horrible people.

7 seasons. Between 10-15 eps a season.Indy wrote:Good to know. How many episodes?
Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
Thanks. Right now that seems like a tall mountain to climb, but hearing how much you liked (and I distinctly remember Cap speaking highly of that show while it was on) makes me want to put it on the list.Shabazz wrote:7 seasons. Between 10-15 eps a season.Indy wrote:Good to know. How many episodes?

I don't think Holly is a horrible person...Dan H wrote:Started watching on Netflix when it was on the next to last season.Indy wrote:Interesting. Yes. Glaring omission on my part.Shabazz wrote:"The Shield" had the best series finale I've ever seen. Could not have ended in a more perfect way.Indy wrote:I'm not sure any show has. Of the greatest shows I have ever seen, I can't think of a single multi-season one that stuck the landing very well, much less was damn near perfect.Ghost wrote:Yes, those 30 seconds were amazing. I am sad to say that the final season never delivered. In fact, I think it regressed quite a bit...but I guess not every show can end like Breaking Bad.
Lost blew it. The Wire kind of fizzled out the last year.

Seriously?! She was the most self-centered person on the show. It was all about her. She would cry if she didn't get what she wanted.Indy wrote:I don't think Holly is a horrible person...Dan H wrote:Started watching on Netflix when it was on the next to last season.Indy wrote:Interesting. "I am the one who cries!"
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
Haha...I'm with Bone on this. Holly is terrible, and will totally take after her dad in 20 years.
I'd add Marie to the "not horrible" list, because while she's far from perfect, she certainly isn't EVIL.

Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
That's true.
They play off Hank and Marie as jokes at first but they definitely evolve. Where I'm at Marie is still kind of a ditz, but I've heard she definitely comes around.
That scene where Hank takes on the cartel guys in the parking lot is epic. I think I watched it four or five times.

That's it! That's your sequel. I want to see Holly's reign of terror when she takes over for her father (2034ish) that she barely knew. Like father, like daughter.Ghost wrote:Haha...I'm with Bone on this. Holly is terrible, and will totally take after her dad in 20 years.

Worst finale ever: Dexter.

He left him every episode. The finale didn't change that.Superbone wrote:Yeah, that was bad. He just leaves his kid?Shabazz wrote:Worst finale ever: Dexter.
Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
Yeah, when I first watched, Hank seemed like a stereotypical dumb cop. But he actually does real police work. Unlike Debra from Dexter, who we only can tell is a good cop because everyone in the show keeps saying "You're a good cop!" Hank is actually pretty smart, and not just stumbling into situations where he can catch the bad guy.Dan H wrote:That's true.

Marie is never not a ditz. And she's frankly pretty selfish, but only in petty ways, which actually makes it better because when something important is going on, she'll protect the people she cares about (and without, you know, dealing meth). She's one of the kinder people in the show.
There are some bit characters we could add to the list, but they are mostly all casualties of Heisenberg and not key players.
Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
Dexter had a horrible last few seasons. I loved that show so much, but after a while it became clear that every season's plot was going to be, "Some random evil guy figures out Dexter's secret and kind of befriends him, but then in the end Dexter has to kill him, and in the process he almost gets caught in his secret by the police and/or his sister." They pulled that exact plot every season from #3 onwards. Meh.
Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
Dexter was a great premise with terrible execution. The first season was great...pretty much everything after that was disappointing in comparison. There were some good moments...season 4 with John Lithgow being the high point, and season 3 was decent. Season 2 should never have happened, and I'll never forgive the writers for ruining what could have been a great story with Doomsday in season 6. I never finished the series because it just got too idiotic for me.
They should have strung the Ice Truck Killer storyline into multiple seasons and woven the other season story arcs into it. That might have made the overall series more solid. But they wasted their best villain right at the start.

Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
Oh, and the COMPLETELY two dimensional backup characters were not helping, either. When Rita, who was a distraction and annoying, is your most real character, you need to consider all the bad decisions you've made in life.
Re: What TV shows are you guys watching?
I never got into the Dexter show but the books took a turn for the weird when it was revealed that his "Dark Passenger" was some sort of primordial demon.
