Feels like we’ve been saying this for years and we can say it til we’re blue in the face. I don’t think we can win, even with our big 3’s mid-range proficiency, with our current shot diet. But we also can’t win if the 3s we generate are for guys like Okogie, KBD and Metu. Need our stars to shoot 3s more and that’s on Vogel.
If Nurk and other Suns could hit their layups and keep the Grizz off the offensive boards, this would have been an easy win last night. Seems easy.
"There are 3 rules I live by: never get less than 12 hours sleep, never play cards with a guy with the same first name as a city & never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Everything else is cream cheese."

We have 1 guy that tries to rebound and he can barely jump, when Nurk isn't out there this team absolutely invisible on the boards.
In fairness, I think Okogie also crashes the boards hard. And it was just a glimpse, but maybe Bol solves some of this when he comes back? The fact that I'm relying on Bol to anchor the rebounding for the second unit is a scary thought to me.
Hoping your 6'4" can steal a rebound when the other team always has 4 guys in the paint isn't sustainable unfortunately. Bol is still a massive project who looks like he's thinking out there, no instincts, just always a step slow.
I agree 100% about the lack of 3-point shooting. This team, especially the Big 3, we're way too willing to settle for a contested midrange shot. Several of us have been saying it all year. Just chuck up more 3s. Move the ball, set a few screens, and if you can get an open 3 by a star, you take it.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
Agreed!
As decent as Book has been at playmaking, continuing to try and force this point book gimmick is the definition of insanity seeing how it's affected him and our team overall competitively.

Also just doesn't help that our defensive strategy on the perimeter is the ol' " Go ahead and shoot! I dare you defense. Not even rotating and closing out hard is inexcusable.
I know you have to keep a brave face publicly and portray an aura of being calm/in control but I hope Vogel and co are much less relaxed about how things are going behind closed doors than these post-game quotes suggest…
"They're really deep,” Vogel said. “Four Hall of Famers and they're just further along than we are right now. It's going to take time. We'll be OK.”
We’ve got a roster that can win,” Vogel said. “We believe in it. It’s gonna take time, still six games with (the Big 3) playing together. A lot of those games role players have been been in and out. It’s a long season.”
They’re hitting their stride, we haven’t quite got there yet. We tried to change the game in the second half by going small. We had a couple of threes that went in and out we didn’t get, and we had a couple of rebounds we didn’t get that could have probably changed the complexion of that stretch of the game. And then the fourth quarter, we didn’t come out and execute well enough, we have a drought offensively.
So have they been pussyfooting around when any of the Big 3 is out or injured? We can't develop any fundamental identity without them being together at the same time? Explains nothing to our bench being ass and defense a laughingstock.
At this point, my optimism is higher for the Cardinals.
