'God gave us Trump': Christian media evangelicals preach a messianic message
https://www.msn.com/en-za/news/world/go ... r-BB1klQJG
NEW YORK (Reuters) - "This is really a battle between good and evil," evangelical TV preacher Hank Kunneman says of the slew of criminal charges facing Donald Trump. "There's something on President Trump that the enemy fears: It's called the anointing."
"The hand of God is on him and he cannot be stopped."
In both the 2016 and 2020 elections, evangelical voters staunchly supported Trump despite claims of adultery and sexual misconduct, which he denied. With Trump now facing dozens of criminal charges as he pursues a second term, some Christian media are bolstering his support by portraying him as an instrument of God's will who faces persecution by his foes.
Many conservative Christians have long relied on Christian media to champion political causes tied to their faith, like anti-communism and anti-abortion.
But what's new about this election cycle is the unabashed support for Trump and the frequency he is depicted as "God's chosen" leader, said Brian Calfano, a political science and journalism professor at the University of Cincinnati who has researched the proliferation of media-savvy ministers who support Trump.
The former president has started some rallies with a messianic video made by social media influencers which opens with the line: "On June 14, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said: I need a caretaker, so God gave us Trump."

Re: Trump 2024
Calling someone God's Chosen Leader isn't anything new. It's been happening for thousands of years. David of the bible was considered God's Chosen leader, along with many Kings and Leaders along history. I think you are trying to equate him with a Messiah and someone that people should worship without question, which is ridiculous. If someone is worshipping Trump, that's incredibly sad and wrong.

Re: Trump 2024
I do think they worship him. I do the think they think he is some sort of messiah sent by god. Certainly not all of them but, enough of them. Churches (ministers) deciding who to vote for and preaching its gods will that Trump be President is really really bad. Churches aren’t supposed to be political rallies for Trump. How do they know which candidate God is pulling for? I don’t believe in God but, if I did I certainly wouldn’t believe God spoke to anyone about which candidates he prefers.

‘Emotionally Undisciplined’: Why Trump Sued George Stephanopoulos
His constant lawsuits against the press are strategic — and because he can’t help himself.
https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/ ... s-00148430
“Trump saw litigation as being only about winning,” Zirin wrote in his book. “He sued at the drop of a hat. He sued for sport; he sued to achieve control; and he sued to make a point. He sued as a means of destroying or silencing those who crossed him. He became a plaintiff in chief.”
In a 2020 interview with the ABA Journal, Zirin expanded on Trump’s litigiousness, saying that he had learned his courtside methods from his one-time attorney, Roy Cohn.
“Cohn’s recipe was fight, and he taught Trump the tools he used. No. 1 is if you’re charged with anything, counterattack. Rule No. 2 is if you’re charged with anything, try to undermine your adversary. Rule No. 3 is work the press. Rule No. 4 is lie. It doesn’t matter how tall a tale it is, but repeat it again and again. Rule No. 5 is settle the case, claim victory and go home,” Zirin said.

Re: Trump 2024
Whether Trump "cheated in an election" is debatable, but, he has clearly committed election-related crimes. For example, turn on the TV today. Any real news network is covering how he is beginning his hearing for the hush money case. Trump paid a porn star and other women to hush them up about affairs that might have caused him to lose the 2016 election, then covered up the payments. His co-conspirator Michael Cohen went to prison for it already. Trump may still be convicted of a felony for it.
He also incited an insurrection and attempted to overthrow the result of the 2020 election he lost, including a mob that was actively trying to kill many of his political opponents. But they did not succeed, so no biggie I guess?
