Finished episode 8 last night. I would say that Shogun is the best show on right now, imo. The acting is outstanding.

100% agree. Fantastic acting. Wonderful writing.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I got tired of the subtitles around episode 3 and quit.... Then I learned from my father-in-law that Hulu has an English dubbed version. GAME CHANGER.
I want to watch my shows.. Not read them.
I'm waiting for the Wife to get some time and then binge them all.

It's unfortunate that subtitles are a barrier to some. I am not going to criticize anyone for that. Personally, I don't enjoy the dubbed as much as the subtitles, because you miss something to it, especially when part of it includes an English character and a translator.

I'm with you, man. I was watching a Russian show dubbed in English and it really bugged me as the way the characters spoke didn't jive with their characters (plus the mouth moving differently). Switched to subtitles and the experience went way up. It was at that moment that I learned to always go for the subtitles rather than dubbed for foreign language shows and movies. Did that and have never looked back.In2ition wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 9:51 amIt's unfortunate that subtitles are a barrier to some. I am not going to criticize anyone for that. Yeah, I don't want to listen to someone else trying to speak in the same voice, tone and emotion as the original actor or actress. I can't get past the whole mouth not being aligned either with what is being said (though I'm usually looking at the subtitles when reading anyway). Regardless, I don't want another actor or actress trying to voice act the emotion of the original actor. It usually comes across far more flat.

Re: Movies / TV Shows
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the show just has the Portuguese speakers just speak in English, right?
Re: Movies / TV Shows
I believe that those Portuguese speakers also do speak English though, which conviently helps the story and audience.

A little less reading required for my wife and I

Re: Movies / TV Shows
Otherwise, only the main protagonist would speak English in the whole thing! I think it's a good compromise.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 12:16 pmA little less reading required for my wife and I![]()
