Really good news. Takes the pressure off him to perform in the playoffs and is one less thing to worry about as a team heading into the offseason/next year. And a deal around 18/year for him is pretty good. Cam Johnson ended up getting more, who's a bit bigger but maybe less versatile offensively. Donte DiVincenzo got 46 over 4 but he was less proven as a starter and had a major injury a few seasons back; he broke out nicely for the Knicks once they moved IQ and RJ and also might've taken less to play in NY with Brunson and Hart. But 18/year is kind of in line with the market and I doubt he would've gotten more in FA.
The Suns are in a spending fiasco. According to Wojnarowski, Allen's extension makes the team's projected payroll for 2024-25 $206 million with an additional $104 million in luxury tax. That will be the highest bill in the NBA.
The Suns are now on the books for $16 million over the second apron, which means they cannot send cash out in deals, aggregate contracts or use a pre-existing trade exception. If they finish next year over the second apron, their 2032 first-round pick will not be available to use via trade.
Is he gonna keep giving us .679 TS%, or regress to the mean?
“Are you crazy?! You think I’m going to go for seven years and try to get there? You enjoy the 2030 draft picks that we have holding? I want to try to see the game today.” — Ish 3/13/25
That Cam contract is pretty bad, it not one of the worst contracts in league by any means but it’s not good either. I know the nets keep saying they want to keep Mikal and Cam as their future core but I think nets will be shopping Cam hard this upcoming season.
It should be a priority to re-sign Royce too. Now that we are thick in the 2nd apron bullshit, keeping good players when we can is a must. I think 2/24 is reasonable, maybe a slight overpay but that’s okay imo. 3/30 would be great too.
Royce can only get 2/20 right now so it’s likely we wait till free agency on him. Gambo was saying 12-13 a year…so maybe more like 3/36. It would be smart to put his salary right at the MLE for trade purposes.
Replace Eubanks too. I think it’s very likely Damion Lee opts in too, I’m 50/50 on if EG stay. Probably will depend on if we make a deep run otherwise I could see him leaving for a different contender.
Lee’s been doing on-court work and looking at a possible return in the playoffs.
“To be determined,” Lee said. “I'll just leave it at this. I feel like the longer we go in the postseason, the more likely there is a chance. No timetable necessarily. It's all feel based. You saw me out here shooting, jumping. Running.”
In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.

Eubanks has a player option too…but yes I’d support trading or just waiving him.

It feels like and looks like he keeps improving every year, but there is going to be a limit at some point.
