2024 Playoffs: Suns-Timberwolves Round 1 News Thread
Re: 2024 Playoffs: Suns-Timberwolves Round 1 News Thread
I'm just happy Durant gets nearly a week off. Dude has needed it for months.
Re: 2024 Playoffs: Suns-Timberwolves Round 1 News Thread
Just checked DraftKings; they have us at -115 and Minny at -105. That makes us the technical favorites but not “clear” favorites.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 7:36 pmThe Suns are clear favorites to win the series by the bookmakers so far.
FanDuel is similar: PHX -120, MIN -102.

All this talk of us dominating them in the regular season and potentially sweeping them in the playoffs will certainly make its way to the Minny locker room.
In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.

I remember dominating the Mavs in the regular season not so long ago. Can’t put any stock in that. Playoffs are a new game.

We're going to need Nurk staying out of foul trouble and being out there. I anticipate at least 2 games he'll be in early foul trouble.

It won’t be just our message board. The whole world knows we swept them this year and won’t be afraid to publish that.

Well I think the team itself knows they got swept..I don’t think the talk does anything is all. It’s creating a story that isn’t there. Minny knows we spanked them all season. They’ll be prepared or they won’t. What we did or what media say won’t impact anything.

And to be honest? Some people like getting spanked, so that honestly adds another interesting angle to me with this series. I appreciate you bringing up that pointSplit T wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 12:26 pmWell I think the team itself knows they got swept..I don’t think the talk does anything is all. KD kind of is who he is. Super talented player, plays hard, but an insecure and petty little bitch at times, too. If he's playing at his best, he's a great asset to the team. If not, well, bye bye next decade's worth of draft picks and players.
Re: 2024 Playoffs: Suns-Timberwolves Round 1 News Thread
Why do we keep saying next decade? We’ve already sent 1 of the 4…it’s literally 3 more picks. Fake news.
Re: 2024 Playoffs: Suns-Timberwolves Round 1 News Thread
Four picks and three swaps for KD, five picks for Brad, three picks for Royce, one for Drew, plus whatever the players we traded were worth.

The Suns have a first round pick in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030.
All of their own second round picks have been dealt through 2030, but I don't think it's significant because second round picks are widely available for cash purchase.
Edit: I just remembered they have two incoming protected second round picks in 2024 and 2028 but seem unlikely to convey.

Ya I don’t care about 2nd round picks…we created like 5 of those last summer by trading swap rights we had already swapped. I also don’t care about swaps that much…and we only traded 1 swap for KD by the way.
Re: 2024 Playoffs: Suns-Timberwolves Round 1 News Thread
I'm including the pick swaps and all the picks we sent out in other deals (e.g. Beal trade). You might not consider a pick swap a big deal, but not owning our own pick means that we can't really bottom out when our older players like KD leave the team or retire.
Re: 2024 Playoffs: Suns-Timberwolves Round 1 News Thread
Fair enough…I just don’t care about 2nd round picks which is all we gave for Beal…I also don’t think Ishbia has any intention of bottoming out. He’s likely just gonna trade the picks we make anyways.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 7:32 pmI'm including the pick swaps and all the picks we sent out in other deals (e.g. Beal trade). Pick swap is only a problem if ours is higher than the other team's, right?
